Camp Chat Extreme Martial Arts Training

In 1998 4-Time World Champion and last season's Power Rangers star Mike Chat created a training experience so unique, so effective, and so much fun that his 1998 and 1999 camps on the UCLA campus became legendary overnight. Now by special arrangement with the US OPEN, Mike Chat will offer a three-day version of the camp just before the tournament.

Acrobatic sport karate is evolving everyday and so is the language used to describe the moves and other elements of the sport.

This excellent document was compiled by Brad Appleton and is available in several formats from his site. The HTML version has been mirrored here with permission for your convenience.

Even if you can do the full splits you may want to take a look at this manual to make sure you are not causing damage to tendons or ligaments through improper techniques. Covers PNF stretching.

A personal account of various training techniques for gaining better jumping ability. A very informal article listing a few specific exercises and a couple of links.

I don't know the author. I just found the article on the Web searching for jump training, but it has some helpful information and was worth including.

Jump Split: Better Jumps in 4 weeks

This article shows exercises specifically to train jump split and double jump front kicks. It is from a cheerleading Web site written for power jumps, but it applies directly to martial arts kicks.


Winning Workout by Mike Chaturantabut

A very motivational and information packed article that was written by Michael Chaturantabut during his competition days. It covers his winning training regiment and was included in the Camp Chat training manuals.
