two and a half spins and then a hook kick. Done like a normal 720 but you start facing the opposite direction so you get that extra 1/2 spin making it a 900. [Brian]
if you have difficulty kicking at the end of the spin, then try by just raising your kicking knee higher each time it helps to get the hight in the kick. peace
how do you get the jump power in your feet in order to turn around in the air i tried it and i landed on my back dam that hurt thanks i realy need help with this
I am 16 years old and never practiced neokarate nor have anyone who can teach me around my home area. I usually get pretty good air in my jumps, but it's just not enough. So my question: What should i do to develop my body for neokarate techniques; so that i can gain good speed, good jumping height, flexibility, strength. What exercises are there that can help me with this development. I realize I asking for a lot of information but if anyone can give me some advice, please don't hesitate. Thanks just for reading! P.S. I am sure my body can take any of the punishment from the exersices you might suggest (If not then I'll try my best I can do). I weight 125 and am 5'6" tall, so i believe I'm well suited for neokarate's physical activities. I have very modest experience in martial arts but am able to do most advances moves without much of a problem, hope this information help in anyway to answering my questions. Thanks again!
I'm with "Anonymous on 2002-07-08", i have a vairly similar problem... just worse... I have no expiriance in martial arts what-so-ever but i do often try to imitate moves i see in movies... and i was very interested in learning, but i can't do a complete split, and am simply not very flexible, I can't even do a flip, I'm useless! And I'm 19 years old, so I was wondering whether there is still even any hope... so could you guys possibly tell me some exercises to learn JUST the basics, get more flexible etc... I stand 1,82 Meters, and I'd say I have a fairly good vertical, I never really measured it, but I can dunk, if that tells you anything.

this is the easiest kick i have ever done. Ia m 56 years old and my partner mike roch taught me this trick. i learned it in less than an hour. practice this off a diving board you have more time to spin. SO STOP COMPLAINING AN JUST DO IT, IAM ALMOST 60 YEARS OLD
Well i need just as much help as anyone who is trying to learn martial arts! i really want to learn and be strong and confident with martrial arts. there are a lot of bullies in my school and they pick on ppl out of nowhere. im sick and tired of them and the teachers don't care or the principal doesn't care either. please somone give me some fighting advice!!! and don't tell me to settle this with words becuz that won't do. its time to fight back
I dont recomand u fighting a bully thats bigger and stronger then you and anyway why are u trying to prove yourself to them by going down to there level, and if u want to learn martial arts just to beat some bullies then u shouldnt learn it because thats not what martial arts is all about.
You should learn martial arts and beat the hell of of those bullies. Thats one of the reasons i learned martial arts. And even bruce lee said the real reason most people learn martial arts is to learn how to fight. Dustin you dont know what your talking about.
BrUce Lee the greatest fighter ever learnt martial arts cos he got beaten up when he was young. I beleive everyone who gets beaten up should either follow Bruce's footsteps or go buy a gun.
Hi guys...I'm from Bloemfontein, I just wanna ask you guys...where do I start?...If any of you have anysteps or moves how to start...and what I can print and do at home..please do I will deeply appreciate it!...thanx guys :)
Heehe, haven't been on this site in ages. Wanted to thank S.Charney (leitaofeng@earthlink.net) for the flexibility tips. But his e-mail address seems to have gotten booted. Who said Bruce Lee learned Martial Arts because he got his ass beat? Oh well, things are crazy. I can jump high enough to dunk. I can jump up and kick 3 times in the air like it was nothing. With a single acceleration step, I'm sure I can do as good as all kicks on this site that don't require me doing a flip. Cuz that I can't do. Not even with an acceleration run, I can run all I want. There's no way on god's green given earth that I'll land on my feet after trying a flip. I also noticed that when I try a flip. I don't get any vertical in my jumps. How come? How can I jump up in the air and do a flip?
what is the thing called when aperson is on the floor an dthey kindof 'flip' to their feet. it's not really a flip but...ans how do you do it. (it's seen in fighting scenes alot, and in shows like 'Buffy') thanks
It's called a kippup, you can do it with or more impressively without your hands, it's a tricky move until you get it, then it will always be a snap for you.. everyone I know can do one......
im relatively new to neokarate. ive been doing flips and stuff since i was six. im also a blue belt in brazilian ju jitsu. can anyone explain how this move goes. thanks
hi. im 13 years old. i got my first blackbelt in karate shotokan about a month ago. my trainer told me i have the potential to be a champion. he even gave me his old blackbelt. i felt honored and determined. later i watched videos of ryan pinkston, matt emig,(other kids that kick ass). i dont know how im ever goin to get to their level. i can do 4 backflips in a row, nothin else. i want to learn extreme kicks, im better at kicks. what kind of martial arts does any one suggest i should do instead of karate shotokan(to learn extreme kicks)?
I am not advertising here,, but for all of yee who have ever wondered how to REALly really exercise to gain your splits check this site out.. www.stadion.com
P.S. I landed my first butterfly twist the other day, and now I can do it whenever, its awesome!
If you want height...speed...form...control...power...I highly suggest Wushu...roughly translated it means "military art/form" So basically it means that Kung Fu was transformed to be unstopable! I have been doing martial arts ever since I was 7, I am turning 17 in August 21,2003 so I have been doing it for a while. I have studied Akido, Hapkido, TaeKwonDo a.k.a. TaeKwonDon't Work, Jui Jitsu,Jeet Kune Do,Karate and now Wushu. So I guess you can that i am pretty experienced. Out of all of those, Wushu is by far the most advance/flawless. To give you an example of a Master of Wushu...try Jet Li...yeah..he has studied Wushu since he was 9...he looks to be about 25 or so...but he is astonishingly 51! If you want to learn Jumps,Spins,Kicks,Combos,ect...Wushu is the best bet trust me...dont take Karate or TaeKwonDo...because they don't work...All TaeKwonDO is, is Korean Karate...that is it...oh and the principles are a lil different. Trust me! Wushu has been manipulated to adapt and conquer many varieties of opponents. If you want to learn tricks suck as 1080 thrust kicks, FrontFlip Axe kicks ect...Study Wushu...I can do almost everything on this website, not because of TaeKwonDo, or Karate...but Wushu...well if I see that people need help on finding out more about Wushu or help on a move...i will try to help you with the lil I know...And if you need instant help...just e-mail me...tzay jean a.k.a "bye-bye"
uhh.. I think Jet Li's been taking Wushu since before he was 9 and he's about 30 something. And wushu's all about forms, not practicality. It's almost like dancing.
Hey Anonymous...Do you study Wushu? Cause if you do...I would love to spar...anyways...Yes, Wushu has many forms...and it has alot to do with contol and the formation...mastering this...will reasure that you can dominate your opponents. One thing I disagree upon...is your lack of knowledge about the great WuShu Master Jet Li....hmmm...do you have the "DVD" of Lethal Weapon 4? It has Mel Gibson...Chris ROck...and DAnny Glover in it...well if you do you will notice that it was made in 1998...and that in his Biography on that DVD...states that in 1998 Jet Li was 46, and that he had been studying Martial Arts since he was 9 years old...i believed that it was earlier...but I got proved wrong by the movie...just for your info...and hey If you wanna spar...just e-mail me...!
If you are the greatest fighter in the world...then why haven't I seen you in some of the world championships...key word, world...! Just wondering...oh and hey..I would love to get my ass kicked by the greatest fighter in the world in a sparring match...so lets spar...if you are willing...since you're so...great...and all...e-mail me... tzay jean
Does anyone have any hints on how about to do an Aerial? If so Email me....I want to try and learn it...It looks fun.I can do Backtucks like crazy...and in time I have been able to make different variations...LIke the Flashkick, X-up,Etc....Fuuuun stuff...
hey wushu, u talk a liot of smack for being a little 17 year old. and i have been doin tae kwon do for 15 years, and i tried other styles....tae kwon do is by far the most powerful martial art there is./....so take ur little 20 ft jumps and flips and shove them up ur stupid ass....peace
I took Tae Kwon do for a long time and became very good at it, even when i was overweight. Saying it is the most powerful form of martial art is complete ignorance. Yes You can dominate opponents with it, especially if they dont know how to fight. What will you do when you face someone who has studied Kung Fu intensively, such as Wushu or Shaolin (which is what I take now.? First of all my master has been trianing since he was little, but you really only start learning the deepness and vastness of studying once your an adult on your own learning the limitless posibilities of a martial art like kung fu. He explained to me once, that both karate and tae kwon do (not so boldly of course) are simply incomplete forms of the first ancient Shaolin style. Supposeduly it is the origin of all 3. And if you look into the actual facts and history, it is (or at least all 3 derived from the same person).
Let me tell you something, when I did Tae Kwon Do, ,gained flexibilty, and enourmous power in my kicks and techniques, it felt GREAT. But thats pretty much all there is to it. The Stances and BLOCKs (ESPECIALLY) are pretty much incorrect or useless when in a real fight (against a real fighter). I take Shaolin and you learn the application and use of each stance, as silly and fancy as they might look. The punches are actually taught to you right (especially the most common front punch). You combine a POWERFUL martial art like Shaolin or Wushu with Wuji QUan, Taijiquan, and you have pretty much an invincible warrior.
Master Perry seems like a really nice person.I talked to him a bit when i went to his Open martial Arts Tournament.I really enjoy seeing him compete.I'm actually working on some trickz.I'm working on the misty flip.
Hey wassup everybody?! Yah I took karate for a couple of years and I kinda wish I wouldve stayed with it. My sensei even moved me to the head of the class.I felt that was getting old so instead I went into weight lifting. Im just tryin to get back into it now (but on my own) in learning fighting techniques because strength and technique work very well with eachother. I love to watch trick fighting so if anybody has any more tips on bicycle kicking, shadow kicking or what not, put it on this sight!!!!!
TKD Master. theres no martial arts that are better than the other. there are only greater martial artists. each martial arts can be applied to whatever your particular need is. if your small and fast youd take tae kwon doe. or maybe youd take judo.... anyway theres no need to fight. just learn from each other.
Hi everyone. I need tips on how to do one hand push ups... I am very strong and can easily do 2-finger 2-hand push ups but cant find good technique on any one hand push-ups... ANY HELP WILL DO!
start in the regular two handed push up position. Place one leg about 40 degrees out to the side and place one hand on the thigh of your leg moved to the side. move your hips slightly left or right to balance properly. this should give you the necessary balance to perform a one handed push up.
Hello, first time visitor to this site. Are all these areo-techniques for show or practical application?
I've only been studying Lau Gar Kung Fu for a couple of years and we really train the low kicks to shins, knees and groin with the ribs as high as we should need to go. There are fai sun tak fa (flying kick) techniques but they are discouraged from "real" fighting.
What are the thoughts on flying kicks as a weapon?
My girlfriend is dancing professionally, and showed me some videos of guys spinning 5X around totally airborne. I like steve terada's advice on thowing your arms like elbow strikes to generate rotatation.
Hiya im an xtreme kicker from Uk, who won the XMA C hallenge between Terada and Kim Do on Oct 3rd/4th ? and did terada manage to do a 1440 with a kick, (th ere was a prize on offer for it) Is there any downlo ads that shows what happened. Thanx
Tricks like those often seen on this site are gen erally useless in a fight, so those of you wanting to learn martial arts for self defense need to und erstand that it won't help. You need to get enroll ed in some REAL classes, because if you don't lear n under an instructer than you can easily learn wr ong. Also, saying that any one style is best is ign orant because all styles have their strengths an d weaknesses. If you want complete, all around tr aining, take classes in a few different styles th at focus on different aspects of fighting. If you want to learn enough basic self defense against c ommon people (like bullies), then you can train y ourself to an extent. Learn all the basic blocks a nd strikes and continue practicing them (prefer ably with a partner) until they are second nature . Within a couple of weeks you should be able to ins tinctively block any punch coming at your head an d at the same time step into a stance to prepare for retalliation. Here are a few techniques that you should learn. Look the moves up on the internet to find out waht they are, i dont want to explain them :
defense against jab: step back into archer stance, inward block - front kick to groin - knife hand chop to neck
defense against double han d choke/double lapel grab: step back and slide yo ur hands straight up through their arms, front ki ck to groin - bring arms down in chops onto collarb ones at the same time your foot hits the ground - (h eres the tricky part you need to practice on anoth er person, and shouldn't do unless you plan on ser iously injuring your opponent because you are in danger of him doing the same to you) wrap one arm ar ound the outside of your opponents corrospondin g arm twice and turn around then grab with both han ds, so that his arm is positioned over your should er, then immediately bring it down hard on your sh oulder to break it. Again, use that only in time of real danger.
PLEASE use these techniques re sponsibly. i need to consult my notes if i am to put any other techniques, it has been a while and i am j ust getting back into it. will most likely post mo re for you guys later.
I've been training in shaolin kempo for about 14 years now and i want to bring more difficult kicks in to the art, i understand that these kicks reall y wouldn't be needed however i wish to push my body limits even further. i am 21 a 4th degree and in my p hysical prime....Any tough kicks out there???

Man if yall ever get an opportunity, go watch Mr. Perry at the NASKA or NTFA tournaments. He is awes ome! he can do all of the stuff that Jon Valera can d o only better!
listen dude...you really have no idea what you a re saying on multiple subjects...first of jet li has been doing it since he was 8, and now he is 41, "F OURTY-ONE". second of all, you shoudnt lie here, because the "real" martial artists here know wha ts up and know a true martial artist from a false.. . so realy reconsider some of the stuff you say... or just ignore this if it makes you happy. later
I have been studying shaolin since i was very you ng. Shaolin Kung Fu(wushu) is a very enlitenin g martial art. so is Wushu, and if "WushuMaster" i s a true student, he would not be acting the way he i s. Especially with 10 years or so in his pocket. Li sten to "Fire" he sounds more like the real deal. a lso, "TaeKwanDoeMaster", TKD is not the most pow erfull martial art there is, you as a person deter mines wether or not a martial art is the best, the b est for you.
Martial art was said to be brought from India by a monk named Dharma. He passed on the art to those we ak shaolin monks so that they can train up their ph ysical and mind. After many years, Some shaolin m onks "graduate" so called, xia san, from shaolin and open up their own schools with improved versi ons of martail art or even new styles. Many school s like E-mei, Wu Dang have their basics from Shaol in. If i have not remembered wrongly, Tai Chi orig inated from Wudang.
As many people know, kar ate originated from Okinawan. This is the island nearest to China and the water is infested with pi rates.Traders and people learnt Chinese martia l art to defense themselves. Over the years, inst ead of calling it Wushu, the japs made many change s and called it Karate.
Taekwondo is more of a modern art. It's main influence is from Tae-kyon and Hwarangdo, Two very ancient martial art of Ko rea. Tae Kyon is known as the kicking art. Hwarang do was one of the art thought to the korean "Hwa Ran g"(Flowering manhood, also the boys related to t he emperor). It was after the WW1 that martial art ist who fleed to Japan and China combined their ar t to form Taekwondo.
And yes, those kicks des cribed in this website are used for showing off an d not practical for actual fighting. But if u are a ble to understand the use of them, not just learni ng them, not just practising, not just knowing ho w to do them, but really understand the kicks,it i s useful...
I am happy to know another person who knows what i do. where i come from not many know about stuff lik e this. Im also happy that you seem to actually stu dy the Information around the martial arts of wha t you spoke of. Im simply impressed.
master, Wushu is all about coolness, there is no balance bettween power and agility. If u r a good c ompetitor i bet u own it to karate or taekwondo. Go d, I hate wanna bes...
Hi , id like to say a few words about all the stuff i ve read here today. I am interested in learning so me tricks for my own personal wellbeing (for fun) .Lest face it, no matter what martial art you do th ey all have to be mastered in their own unique way a nd they all loook pretty cool. Some of them are des igned fo combat only and others for combat imitat ion which means next to nothing if your not good at it. Ive personally studied judo karate bujican N injutsu and now Kyu Shin Ryu Ninjutsu. Ive realis ed over time that i only get out what i put in so ive d one ninjutsu for over 10 years now as i wanted to le arn how to FIGHT. Thats pretty much all Kyu Shin Ry u is about cos we dont get into the religious side o f it much, that all i wanted out of it and i got it. li ke anything else I think you should pick a style fo r what you want, fun, flexability, fighting, tri cks. Personally I know next to no tricks that comp liment my style but I guess thats what makes us all different. Fighting is only the base for a martia l art (therefor I only know the basics),remember its martial ARTS.Oh and I hate how poeple sterio t ype martial arts, for eg. someone says "I saw kara te today and i think its crap". Well crap how? Its d oing what is designed to do, and is it because ther e doing it different? or do they do what you dont wa nt in a martial art?.Please this is just and examp le theres no negativity here. Plus karate like ev erything else isnt just karate, there are so many different styles and variations, why? Because i t works for the master so thats what he teaches. So this is the style. Ok enough blabbering from me bu t i have 1 more thing to say,Kyu shin Ryu ninjutsu i s over 1000 years old and introduced by the chines e to japan, the japanese designed it to suit thier needs and religion, so really its a style of kung f u but totaly different. Kyu Shin Ryu is the japane se style of the chinese Shaolin monks, cool but ha rd work, i have carpol tunnel syndrome already .A nd dont believe everything you hear or see about N injas, they were just monks. Anyway this is what I think......about all of this :-)
Hey, Ive been doing kickboxing 4 about 4years no w and just resently got my black belt... I REALY wa nt to start doing acrobatic katas, havent even tr ied any thing so i need HELP to start me off... plea se e-mail any tips, tricks, movies and photos to m e at: lee@northweb.co.za... THANKS!!!
you people are insane, i saw a guy talkin about 2 m onths of trainin and being as fast as bruce lee, th ats a lie because bruce lee is the fastest man to ev er live, well i am good at martial arts and all but w hats with the 1440's and shit, i cant do any of that
to do a backflip on a trampoline start trying to d o 1 over your shoulder, not as scary, and just work your way up your shoulder until the point of rotat ion is the middle of your head, i did this and learn t them in 1 hour i was scared for months before
I have been doing tae kwon do for about 9 years, bu t im only 13. I believe that TKD is a very useful typ e of martial arts. It can help in acrobatics, self defense, and building of physical strength and g ood mental attitudes. Your intructor has a lot to do with what u learn (duh) so if u want to lean acrob atics, its not a good idea to go learn from some 90 y ear old tkd master! Hope this clears some stuff up about tked.
