As in most circumstances, all is in the setup. The following tip is for the right leg kicking. (btw. the easiest way to launch all those outside-jump-from-one-leg-only kicks is to gingah before them)
-Sidestep to your right and start rotating (for now only 90 degrees) -Now fasten up the rotation (whip your hands) and put your left leg quite far to the side with a little hop (you do a mirrored "L"-like move with your legs). I hope you still get the orientation, you know... after a 90 deg. turn, put down your left leg (at first it would be step forward). -Now take your right knee into the air jumping as high as you can and maintaining the rotation provided by arms/torso. It feels really weird rotating outside at the first time. You`ll probably land too soon in the first attempt so continue the spin on the ground and perform the hook/heel kick on the end. Now as you practice try do everything in the air. I`ve got an ass-like jumping ability and totally hopeless streching flexibiltiy yet i can still perform it so don`t say it`s too hard. The only problem is in the setup (more precisely - in arm swing and taking off).
I`m sorry if the gramatics or vocabulary sucked, but i`m not english-speaking, i`m a just a poor polish jump-kick maniac so be tolerant. peace
I do a 540 set up and whip my right leg round fast, then i jump off on my left as high as possible and spin fast, bringing up my right knee and whipping out the kick. Jumping high on this is the most important bit so Don't try to kick too high until you've got good jumps!
never use this under muay thai or actual fight situations. even benny urquidez could't use this technic against thai opponents(in his only two "watered-down" muay thai matches...)
i have won tournaments with this kick, you have to be fast and know whe n to use the kick.of course you can't expect to just go in and throw the kick and take them out, you have to find an opening and be for damn sure not to screw it up.
Yes in street fighting this kick is pointless. But there are many things in street fighting that are useless. a 540 double is absolutely useless. i'm about 5'5" and was fighting my friend who's about 7'3" and i pulled a 540 all he did was put his hand up and i landed on my ass. these kicks are for show. there are ways to tweek them like just doing a 540 or 720 hook and kicking them right by the neck but generally it's too obvious. These kicks in any form of fighting should only be used if they are set up for perfectly and if that happens you should think about being in a jackie chan movie.
Traditional taekwondo is not a
sport. General Choi designed Taekwondo as a military art, and in a jail cell mind you, with killing techniques and full contact training, but due to franchising, globalisation and "real" self-defense , the martial arts have lost much of their purpose. To learn technique is nothing, but to understand the application against "real" self-defense, is true Mastery.
Hey, Tiger, thanks for the tip on the setup. I've seen this kick before but always ended up doing a spin side kick instead of hooking it. It's all about practice and not being scared to try something. Never say I can't. Say it'll be hard but I'll try.
Hi, My name is Joshua... I've been trying to learn how to breakdance, but i just can't seem to learn... I try downloading vids to watch and see if i can learn... but i can't. if anyone can help me out with a couple moves... i'd greatly appreciate it...
I can't seem to be able to even come close to the snap at the end of a 720. I don't think that I'm doing the set up right (No one around here knows how to do this stuff). So what are the specific steps required for this kick. I can alredy do a 540 hook kick perfectly (jumping off of two feet) and 360 (off one foot). But the 720 blows my mind altogether. PLEASE HELP ME!!!
If u havin trouble gettin the 720 wat u should do is somthin called cheat 720 its still a 720 but easier wat u do is u start with the right leg back, the reason its called cheat 720 is because u dont really do a 720 all in the air,you first pick up the kicking leg and tuck it in and do the first 180 still on the ground with the kicking leg still tucked in as soon as u do the 180 u should be facing forward with the left leg on the ground and the kicking leg tucked in now this is were u jump as soon as u do the 180 u then jump spin 360 then land on the foot thats not kicking as soon as your about to land u throw the kick and u spin the rest on one foot and there u go u did a 720 ,so u see its not really a 720 all in the air u just got to do the stuff right.
This ain't no kick, It's my special move, I'm Big Sexy-Kevin Nash, It's a powerbomb in which you lift the opponent up and then drop them on there head/shoulders!!!
