Just basically when you go to do your back tuck, layout or whatever. When you set up after you punch through your arms the way your going to turn and hold yourself. Make sure you dont let go because when you do, your most likely going to do a half spin and open up way too early. And dont anticipate the landing, just spin and when you feel comfortable open up to land.
Somebodt tell me how to get the rotation of a backflip faster. And how to do back hansprings an layouts...also please tell me something that helps people reduce fear of falling on your head. I'd love it if somebody'd respond. thanks
When i do my twisting layout I try my best to make all the way around and get my self to face where i satrted in the begging. I know about lifting the chest, being straight but maybe what i dont know what to do is wrap my arm or twist as evry gymnast would call it. I need help on how to get my twist right or maybe i need some excersise or drills to get me fit. This is the most difficult trick i have ever tried to accomplish and i dont know how to do it help is needed.
stephen...not quite. A full back layout is a backflip with your body laid out or extended(straight) with a 360 degree turn. A tip on twisting is when you come up for the back...look into the direction that you want to turn and throw the arm opposite of the direction your twisting into your twist(twisting right...throw left arm right). Take it from me I used to be a gymnast. Another tip is to stay straight. When your body is straighter it turns faster.
i wanna know how to do a back layout when ever i try it, i go real high off of the grass/field but no matter wut i land wit my hands in front of me.......on the ground =(
dude that's retarded...if you jump up and lean back you'll bypass you're hands and do a backflip...you want to catch yourself.....trust me i was a gymnast for years
Hey, noticed all your questions about how to do a "back flip". Im a gymnastics coach. The easiest way to learn how to do these tricks is to go to your local gymnastics school and ask for a private lesson. You'll learn really fast and its fun!
I practiced this with a diving board instead o f my tramp because it doesn't hurt as much. (unless you hit the diving board of course) and you have some fun making the life guard laugh his ass off! Especially when you scream AWW SH*T and try to reverse it into a dive!
All u do is simply after your round-off bend your back like your doing a bridge/back bend and block your hands from touching the ground but you have to know how to do a back hand spring or a back tuck !!!!

Well it goes like this, right. Whenever I go for the backflip 360 i kinda stuff up. I can do them spinning my bad way but not my good way and I want to learn how!!!:(
Backflips are easy! All you have to do is try to reach the ground behind you as soon as you jump in the air. If you achieve this you will have done your first back handspring; get more height and you'll do a backflip!!!
If you will just try to reach the ground behind you and jump about the same time and you land it you will have done you first back handspring!!! As you get more air you will soon don a backflip!!!
n e n every 1 can do a backflip. itz jus that a lot of people r 2 scared 2 do it. first u have 2 get the ballz to do it and jus say F it. jump up, look behind u and swing ur legz over. b4 u no it ull be on the ground again standing up. NOW GET 2 IT!
All you people want to know how to backflip. The easiest way is to run very fast do a round off then try it it gives you great speed and a better chance of doing it than from just standing
Some of these tips really suck, take it from me a 15 year old gymnastics coach in ventura california. First of all, some of these suggestions will get u hurt and u should really worry about proper form, before trying a full like strong round-off (backhandprings {optional}) and strong layouts before twisting. But if u wanna know just do a strong round-off and set (hold ur jump to get max height) keep your body straight and start ur layout then wrap or pull your arms close to your body in the direction your twisting ex. if you twist right make both of hands pull to your right shoulder but make sure your still tight and not lose or u will lose your twisting speed and form. Then make sure u keep ur chest up or you'll land short and probably sprain your ankle (seriously, I've done it) then you'll land perfecty straight on your feet, also don't let the fear get to you. any questions e*mail me @ Brink0269@aol.com -Brink
i learned my full by doing it off a tumble track it so easy now and i can do them on w/e u want me 2 so ill tell ya what i did when u do the layout or w/e make sure u go high and have ur arms up above your head and when ur landing bring ur arms down 2 ur side that u spin like if u spin 2 the right ud put ur arms down towards the right then u look the way u sping for example again if u spin 2 the right ud look 2 the right then u turn ur body and dont let ur feet hit the ground until u see that u have spun a 360 degreees it takes awhile 2 learn how 2 land it but if u keep trying ull get! now go try!
well...im sorta trying to learn how to do both and i was sooo wondering how to do it and when i do a front one i can only SOMETIMES get back up and sometimes not so what am i doing wrong well please i would really really appreciate it if u would just give some advice about what to do on it so thanks...
i'm a 11 year old gymnast who still can't do a back flip.i really want to know how to do one because i am a black tag in tae-kwon do and i am going for musical patterns in a competition later this year.i thought it would look really cool if i could do a back flip!!!please write back!!!!!!!!!!!
just like all what these people said (if you read 'em) dont get nervous, and get the ballz to do it. watch some1 do it first, so you know what itll look like. if you have a trampoline or pool try it in that first...but if you have fear, dont worry if you're too low you land on your stomach not head!!! still, swing your hands backwards (dont hit your face) jump upish backish like a 40 degree angle, tuck your body in, and when you feel like youve made a complete rotation strech out and bend your knees...its not very hard.
take a look at this guy. go to www.joeeigo.com and get one of his videos so you can see what it looks like. :)
OOPS I WAS LOOKING FOR THE 360 FLIP IN SKATEBOARDING! HAHA! WHOOPS WELL I FOUND THE 360 BACKFLIP WHICH SEEMS COOL. ILL GO TRY THAT OFF A 2 STORY BUILDING NOW...
Okay, buddy, I doesnt matter what age you are, If you feel you can do it, and your pretty sure you got balls, then by all means, dude, flip like a madman! Hey, my friends grampa,he's 75 okay, on his 75th birthday, he almost gave his family a heart attack when he pulled off a standing back flip in his living room! -now tell me you cant learn that combo at 20, man, thats prime age, just get in shape and giver!
Yeah man, a fucking back flip is so goddamn simple. If you can jump, you can do a back flip. If I were old and fat and only had a six inch verticle... I still could do a back flip. The prerequisite to a back flip is a pair of balls, or a fucking hairy-ass cunt (to be politically correct). You don't need to be Batman.

its easy! run really fast, but dont wear urself down running. do a round off and dont be a wuss. i used to be scared but the i thought. 'if u keep chickening out, ill never do it!" so u just did it! now i can do 4 in a row!!! GO DO IT!!! on matts first, then a grass field, then on concrete!!
this is the story: how i learned to backflip. i had no coach, no videos, and no people that could teach me. i had to see how ppl did it on tv. so everyday i cant beleive i had the patience to have a mirror in front of my bed and flip flip flip flip! so one day i actually got half close to something that looks like a backflip and suddently i had an idea. "if i run ill get the momentum to flip. DUH!!" so i went to my school gym everyday. round off flip round off flip round off flip. in two weeks i got the ballz to but all my power into it. and here it is!!! with two years practice i can do 4 in a row. anyone can do it. just get motived. put everything else aside, friends, school, FEAR, so go out there and get someone or something that can help u. remember the mats!!!
yeh i hv no coach or mats and stuff im only 13 and every one at my skool thinks im a freak cause i can do 1 backflip (somersault) on the spot how much other stuff can u do ?
180 is pretty simple all u do is the usual to get into a back layout. then i usually lean to the side a bit then jus twist a little bit enough to make a 180 flip ive nearly got a 360 flip tho
I know ye's all mightve said this like, heaps, but can sumone tell me how to do it step by step in english i can understand? y'know? im niot exactly smart...and there's still the fear of landind on my head and breaking my neck, watz the chance of that? And as for practice, at the pool i know this person that crackep their skull on the side of the pool, and on trampoline my friend tried and landed on the metal, so yeah. call me worrywart. actually worrywarts to muh, call me...little miss negative freak ^_^
I believe the best way to learn a backflip, backhandspring, gainer, or backflip off the wall is by using a spotter. A spotter is someone who helps you flip at first untill you do not need their assistance anymore. Using a spotter helps reduce fear and helps you get your form down before doing a flip on yout own. Anyway this is how someone should spot you while you try your flip. If the person is right handed they should stand on the left side of you and they should stand to your right if they are lift handed. They should put their strong hand on the middle of your back. when you jump and start your flip they will help you by throwing your lower half around. After a while you will not need a spotter anymore and you will be flippin all over the place without thinking anything of it. Oh there is one difference when you use a spotter for a backflip off the wall. You should put your arm over the spotter's sholders while trying it, but tht is only for the backflip off the wall. I hope this helps! GOOD LUCK!
Throw your arns srtight up into the air. Your arms should do a half cirdle srtight into the air. Jump srtight up. When You get to the highest point in your jump tuck. Do not tuck to early or you will not make it around! You still should be tucked while upside down. When you are upside down you can put your hands on the back of your legs if you want so that you do not tuch the ground whith your hands when you land. When you start a back look to the sky at first, then look ar the ground before you land. That will help you from getting disoriented while you flip. NOTE!!!! This move feels totally different from a backhandspring. Do not start this move like a badk handspring, becauase you will land on your head. JUMP STRAIGHT UP!!! I learned that the hard way. haha
I want to do a backflip and i think im ready. but just to be safe i was wondering if ur spotter is smaller then u, can they still help u out. for example my sister is about 95 lbs and im 110. we are about the same height. can she still help with my backflip or should i just find somebody bigger?
where can i get the cheapest lessons in florida? im a cheerleader and i really want to do flips instead of lifting peple up cuz when my flyer taylor falls it hurts! so i really want lessons where can i getr the cheapest n ja beach
I could help you out during Christmas break and during the summer. I'm cheaper than anyone else you'll probably find and I live in St. simons which isn't that far from you. I could help you with the cheer too if you wanted, I'm a college cheerleader.
Hi I have been doing tumbling for about 6 months or so now I can do a lot of stuff like back tucks front tucks front handsprings back handsprings 180 front flips, and I am still working on a 180 backflip standing still. I can walk on my hands too, but I want to know how to set up a 360 backflip.
Can you start listing how hard each trick is so I can know which ones to try and not try. I want to learn a backflip but I dont know how hard or easy it is or if a back handspring is harder or easier. Peace
Ok, some of you are on here asking about backflip s..just go to the backflip board, not the full twi st..but anyways..here's how it goes:
Off of a strong round off (which you will want to do about 5 times prior to doing the twist to get warmed up), jump up and into your back layout. The easiest way for me to get the twist from the layout is to basica lly throw a hook punch into my shoulder (the direc tion I want to spin)..and no, by this I do not mean s mack yourself, just tuck it. This will get you you r twisting momentum, but if you don't hold on tigh t, you will lose this momentum and bust your ass.. so hold on! When you feel the twist finish, open up and look for the floor. Very important: Keep your eyes open throughout the trick.
I have been doing acrobatics for like 7 months no w I can already do front and back flips flatground even on concrete. My friend just got a trampoline and I just tried a back full first time, and I almos t have them I get the rotation fine, but I can't sti ck the landing.
ok..wat i mean is... while doing a back flip .. there will be a plank(wood)and i hav to kick it. it's a demonstration move..how do i straithen my leg in the air and be able to maintain my stability ? do i need to run to gain sum momentum or jz stand an d flip?....
in order to to thid trick you have to know how to ex icute a backflip everytime. first get a hang of a b ackflip 180. to do this. step 1:start your backfl ip step 2: when your back is facing the trampoline , twist your shoulders and turn your head as if you were to look down at the trampoline mat, BUT DONT S TOP YOUR BACK FLIP, step 3: continue through ough t the spin, their isn't much rotating to this tric k. step 4:Keep trying it untill you get your timin g right, remember, your first attempet at a trick is always the scaryest, dont try a trick if your re ally scared, your could get hurt. no, once you do a back 180, to do a back 360, start the 360 at the same time you start your back flip, to do this take your arms, and as soon as your jump off the mat swing you r arms over your head and to which ever side you wis h to rotate, try 2 stay stiff in the air, again keep trying untill your get it. its hard 2 see when your in the air because you spin at a fairly high speed. this trick is possible, ive done it hundreds of ti mes, just keep trying. if anyone has tips on landi ng the backflip 1080 or the double back flip 360, p lease share!!! e-mail me with questions. (all my tricks are done on trampolines)
do not listen to martial artists boys tips on doi ng backflips, he cannot do them if he uses his tene que on flat ground, if you try this your could poss ible land on the back of your head. please dont use his tequnece. if your trying flips of flat ground , make sure you can do them on trampolines WITHOUT A BOUNCE first. the first time i tryed a backflip o n flat ground i COULD do it on a trampoline with no b ounce, and i still landed flay on my face, i tryed i t when i was standing in some snow, this is a very di fficult trick, do not attempt for the first time i f you are alone. also, you need very strong legs to do flips on flat ground.
Ya should put a matress behind ya and try a back fl ip from something higher then the matress.Don't forget when you attemt a back flip you should use y our whole body, sway your arms back and throw them up as you jump tuck your feet, knees and chest toge ther. It's probably easyier to have closed fist a nd if your not making it when you attemt try and lan d on your knees.
I don't know what is with you people being afraid of back flips. I know it is hard to get over the fear of flipping backwards I been there. I started out with first learning front flips which were very e asy now doing a round-off, back handspring, to ba ck flip is pretty easy for me. I self taught myself everything I know I did not need lessons I like to l earn everything on my own. I never even got injure d yet doing a flip never hit my head ounce on ground . The best way to learn a back flip is to try it on a ma ttress first or a trampoline and progress from th ere. I need advice on back fulls standing still be cause I land on my knees all the time.
The way i learned how to do a back full from standi ng was by practising on the 540 twist (in capoeira we call it mariposa, also called butterfly twist ) the one where you run forward and kick one leg u p ( like a gainer backflip) and twist. You use the s ame tech in the twist exept you start off with both legs on the ground, start like a regular backflip and right after your legs leave the ground twist y our shoulders like you would do a 540. But keep you r concentration on doing the BACKFLIP not to much on the twist or you will not make it all the way arou nd. Start off with a quarter twist then half twi st and then give it all you got and go for 360 or 540. It is off course easier to do it with a good round off at first. Good luck
it so easy to do a backflip listen up and maybe you ll learn...... 1) Jump really high in the air. 2)Try and do a backflip and land on your stomach f irst and practice that alot before trying anythi ng else. 3)After mastering a backflip by jumpi ng and landing on your stomach Try this... 4)Do ing a backflip and landing on your knees and try th at for a while then after you master the backflip l anding on your knees then stick your chest out and try the backflip. if you did the steps i told you to do then you should be able to throw a backflip like that.
Note: Im not in Gymnastics or Anything , its just that i have Friends with trampolenes.
first of all alot of your explanation sucks exce pt for some of them. if you wanna do a full. make sur e your round off is straight or your backhandspri ng.one you have that perfectly do a layout right a fter it make sure you set up and pull hard back.aft er that do the same thing you did but this time just do a half.the way you wanna twist is SET up SPOT som ething and when you cant see it nemore drop your ar ms to either your right/left side (if you twist to the right you,you drop your arms to the right,if y ou twst left drop your arms to the left)make sure y ou pull hard and not get scared. because trust me i remember the first time i was working on fulls it w as scary.im currently competing a round off back handspring fulltwist backpike
jeese this sounds like a very complicated move. ..im trying to get over the fear of a backflip righ t now...im currently trying to do a full back hand spring...then a backflip, a good site is www.tri ckstutorials.com you can download videos (not a whole lot but some) it has my 2 fav tricks on it wall flip and back flip and there both connected in a wa y ;-) happy times to all!!
if your learning the back full be sure to take ext reme caution before executing this move. i broke my leg just last week because i was inexperienced person trying to do an expert move. so please go to a local gym or facility with an skilled person who knows what they are doing before you try it.
what I do is as soon as I lift off I turn my head to th e left and whip my arms in the direction of my turn b ut i keep them close to my chest, like during a butt erfly twist or 720 whip kick. Don't try to release this until u get a feel for ur position. Don't try t o anticipate it, it'll come to with practice. Unl ike a standard tuck you need air for this move, jus t like a layout, so I recommend learning this with a roundoff before trying this stationary. Also l earn this move in a gym that has heavily padded mat s, unless ur experienced with it. Hope this helps .
Hi I can do a straight front sommersault with a ha lf twist. But not a straight back sommersault wit h a half twist. Well I've tried i on an inclined tra mpette and a trampoline, I can sort of do it, but wh en i take a jump before, when i land, the top half of my body is already twisting to the right so i never completely make the twist. My aim is to do a full tw isting straight back. i've tried this but it's mo re like a 3/4 twist because of my body twisting bef ore i've took off. I've tried going to do the back s ummi then half twist but i get to scared. Can anyon e help? :-) Thanks Rob
