dear sir ; i have a new idea for the vertical windmill it can increase the effeciency to high value .because it bdepend up on thev troqi by changing the direction of apart of the insedent wind. i want to take the msc in sceince in this subject. i will send you the drawing of this idea if you agree to give me afree scholarship. thanks moustafa.
With proper aim and power, a back kick aimed at the middle torso of your opponent will render them breathless... enough for additional moves/countermoves.
Backkick is a perfect followup to a round house kick. When your round kick strike, use the momentum from pushing off to spin and do the back kick. This is a good way to make a quick powerful back kick.
...agreed. A basic combo that I started out with and still use is a full roundhouse kick followed by a back-kick. If the round house misses or doesn't fully make contact, you've got serious momentum for a powerful back-kick. Be weary of your speed against good fighters though, 'cause once that roundhouse is near completion, they're beginning the counter and if you're too slow will nail you plainly on your open/vulnerable back.
A back kick is also a good way to counter a roundhouse in Tae Kwon Do sparring. Pull it off before your opponent has the chance to strike and when his foot hits you it will hit your back, not your pad, and he will leave himself open for a hit, with the back kick of course.
Hey,my father has been teaching me Karate since I was a little girl. Not serious trainning just certain forms. He won't teach me any more though. I need some serious Help. Can anyone give me any imformation at all in the areas of kung-fu, judo, or Karate. I really don't want to go to a school so please help me!!!!! Peace Out Nefraka
back kikck is the least used in tournaments. But the back kick with the whole body rotating to execute the kick is really surprising and easy to gain points in a tournament
In my opinion, back kick is probably one of the most, if not THE most effective counter attack for almost ANY kick. It's what kind of back kick you do and when, that counts. If your opponent is far away, and begins to rush in, a standing backkick will 9 times out of 10 counter any move he plans to throw (Just pay attention to what leg he plans to attack with...this is important when defending against drop kicks and push kicks).
In situations where you are close to your opponent, a jumping back kick to the midsection will work to counter most kicks about 90% percent of the time. And, if for some reason you dont make contact, or if your opponent somehow "beat you to the punch", you can always immediately follow up with a jumping back kick with the opposite leg.
Keep in mind that for back kicks and jumping back kicks to be effective, they must be WELL TRAINED. I recommend doing at least 150 back kicks with each leg every time you train. It will be akward at first, but after a month or so, back kicks will become as easy to throw as a round kick (and just as fast).
In a muay thai fight, back kicks WILL work. I trained in muay thai before I started WTF TKD and I still train it. When I sparr with an opponent in muay thai and throw a back kick, it almost always connects and confuses my opponent (not to mention knocks the wind out of him for a good second or two) ...most likely because he is not used to fighting against them.
Hey Guys, Thanks for all the neet info. I ended up joining a institute anyway. Now I need to know how you guys remember your forms. There kids in my class that remember forms like butterfly palm and arrowhand in a 30min class. Pleeeese give in on the secrets. I'd really like to be good enough to eventually own my own institute and teach it. Nefraka P.S. Have any of you ever heard of seafu Tom Farrar (hope I spelled it right). Thanx.
learning informally but taught correctly, like how your father taught is the original/best way. 1-on-1 teaching is the best. learn moves here and there, thats the JKD way. Learn whats effective, not whats fancy like the majority of moves seen here.
The back kick is also called a back thrust in some places. i am practising WTF taekwondo and i am getting my black belt this march. i have seen my instructors break people rib in tournaments with this kick.
i have a variation of this kick. when executing a back kick to the face, i use my ball of my foot instead of using my heels. this causes more power to concentrate on a smaller area, thus resulting in larger pressure. this kick will need extreme accuracy. i use this only when i go for the face.
try this, it is effective. you got to put some strength in your ankle to prevent spraining it.
Nefraka and all, the back is a powerful and wonderful kick to use. Kung Fu and Gung Fu use a lot of this. However don't listen to everyone in this forum. The best kicking block is not always the back kick. The best used in close (for those who dare or are able) is the Savate (spelling not sure). It is more simple and effective. So I would say learn as much as you can about who you will be competing or fighting against and learn what kicks to use to out do them. Most Americans for example just want to kill or crush people instead of studying philosophies. Figure out what system works and use it and study other systems to..
THe rotation generated from the back kick as well as chi concetration could knock you back a good couple feet. As my master once gently tapped me with a front kick, knocked wind out of me, left a bruise, and knocked me back 5 feet. 1. turn front foot 180 degrees inward, or 90 if you prefer.
2. Rotate the opposite direaction of a round house kick , same direction as a back swing kick.
3. Kick directly behind you but with your torso still upright. It might end up looking like a side kick, thats a good thing if done right.
THIS INFO CAME IN REAL HANDY WHEN SUM 1 TACKLED ME FROM BEHIND SO I PUNCHED HIM IN THE FACE AND WHEN HE LET GO AND STUMBLED BACK I DID THE BACK KICK. t hank you sooo much i creamed the idiot. from the now not so stupid girl ^0^
hi - I am getting confused with the back kick - as t o which way you are supposed to rotate. If you are i n a fighting stance with the left leg in front - whi ch leg do you rotate on - and which leg do you then ex ecute the back kick with? Please help as I am pra ctising it a lot and not sure whether I am getting i t right....
How to execute the spinning back kick(rear leg) . Assuming you are in a left lead (left foot forw ard)stance:(1=left foot position 2=right foot position, in diagram) north /1/ west east /2/ south
To hit a target facing north:p ivot on the ball of your left foot until your left f oot, left knee & torso face southward(transfer a ll your weight to your right leg). The second you r each this point, look over your right shoulder to wards the north(which is your target in this exam ple).Whilst keeping your right hand up close to y our cheekbone as a guard-and your eyes on your tar get, plant your left foot flat on the ground, tran sferring 80% of your weight onto it.Raise your ri ght knee about hip level(pull the toes of your rig ht foot in toward the shin-bringing the heel in li ne with the entire lower leg).Thrust the heel dir ectly in a straight, piston like, line towards th e target-you may need to lean forward to counter b alance yourself. The heel should be the highest p art of the kicking leg(if you were to view the kick , side on) whilst the toes should be the lowest. Th e movement should be done quickly & explosively. The right leg should almost lock(about 97%,to sa ve damage to your knee)& then retract on the same s traight line that it was thrown, before being pla ced down on the ground. You would end up in a right l ead stance at the end of the movement. When lear ning the back kick for the first time, break each m ovement up into a few simple steps 1:pivoting clo ckwise on the left foot as you transfer your weigh t to your right leg.2:looking over the shoulder t owards the target.3:transferring weight from t he right leg to the left.4:delivering the kick in a piston like motion.I like to exhale saying "shh ha",to imagine my leg exploding towards the targ et(optional)haha....Thai boxers use this tech nique when throwing punches-it tenses the body f or a split second-which should be at the "a"part o f the breath(impact)Whoops, went off subject! As you get better, try to pivot right through wit h this kick, finishing in a left lead stance again . COMBINATIONS:Setting it up Left leg round kick/right spinning back kick Left leg sideki ck/right spinning back kick Left jab(disguis ing a 45 degree step forward with the left foot nor thwest-shortening the distance you have to spin )/right spinning back kick From slightly out o f range, throw a fake overhand right, but as the ri ght arm moves forward, disguise a step forward wi th the right foot bringing you closer to the oppon ent & into a right lead stance/pivot & plant your w eight on that right foot & throw a left spinning ba ck kick(well it worked a few times for me!-lol) Fake a right round kick(put the right foot down in front of you(changing into a right lead stance)p ivot on the right foot counterclockwise/left sp inning back kick-the fake round kick/step close s the distance between you and your opponent. T o set up other techniques: Right spinning back kick/right backfist/left cross Right spinni ng back kick,as the right foot finishes the kick, try throwing a right leg sidekick before the foot touches the ground(hard, but ive caught alot of p eople out with this one-they tried to charge in ex pecting the foot to go down. Try using the back k ick while moving forward, closing distance, sta nding your ground, moving sideways or backwards .Oh yeah, almost any technique which travels lat erally can set up a spinning back kick...Sorry fo r my long post & for rambling alot-i hope this info rmation can be found useful for someone...enjoy :-)
Whoops-spelt my user name wrong & my diagram cam e out funny...was meant to show the feet in the cen tre of a compass,in a normal left lead stance faci ng north..feet were meant to be shoulder width or so apart left foot leading, toes pointing 45 degr ees northwest-right foot trailing, foot south e ast and back a bit from the left foot so they should not be in line with each other-toes 45degrees nor thwest or so...guess im just so dam tired..it is q uite late after all-not like its nearly midnight & i start work in a few hours-lol..there i go laugh ing at my own jokes-sorry to confuse-or scare any 1 with my strange behaviour!:-)
IT WAS THIS MAN.1 WAS IN TKD THE OTHER MUAY THIA.N OW MR TKD WAS SPARRING THAI 4 SOME REASON THAI WA S GETTIN WOOPED SO HE GOT TIRED.MR TKD LIFTED THAI S ARMS UP AS THAI WAS SEEING STARS AND THEN BOOM RIG HT 2 THE GUT HE DID A BACK KICK AND THAI GRABBED HIS L EG AND WOOPED HIS ASS. NEVA PLAY AROUND IN FIGHTIN G AND DONT LET YOUR GUARD DOWN AND DECEPTION IS KEY .A MAXIM 4 THIS WOULD BE WHEN U PET A STRAY DOG WITH Y OUR LEFT HAND MAKE SURE YOUR HOLDING A ROCK IN YOUR RIGHT HAND
I don't know how Flexible you are Dan but the best thing to start off with in a Point spar or street fi ght is a hook kick, sure it may be a high kick and not everyone has the confidence to start off that way , but that's how i usually score my more points in s pars, they just don't expect it. If you're not int o kicking as much and you want to do something less difficult, go for a jump in, wrap your arms around the guys neck and deliver a knee his stomach with e ach leg, once that's accomplished release one of your hands and deliver two round-house elbows, a perfect knock out move that i was taught a while ba ck.
I agree with the Hook kick Shawn, i do Taekwondo a nd i usually go for a hook kick to the side of the mou th, the whole knee and elbow thing is actually pre tty cool whoever taught you that technique must b e really cool, i tried out the steps after seeing y our post, well i guess i'm off buhbyez
I only know of its use in ustu sport taekwondo s parring so please NO comments
The back kick w orks well in a step 360 spin as a confusing combo attack.
Offensively throwing one straight off a the line is very disadvantages to you.
they are very easy to notice and back away from . YOu have to be close and VERY fast at it to pull t hat off.
But trying to lunge jump high in the a ir leaves you vulnerable to a roundhouse.
If you miss you WILL be scored on by a roundhouse kick.
Also throwing a back kick counter righ t of the line to a counter a roundhouse will mo re than likely give the round house the point be cause of its speed and the opponent always sees you and can adjust while your turning and lose visibility for half a second.
proper timin g and distance of movement, leg length and body motions are critical to get a backkick off befo re a round house connects or you miss.
I wou ld use this technique only if they are constant ly chargin toward you and it is REALLY evident. otherwise use this sparringly. Not the best scorring technique, easily countered, and ta kings alot of energy.
im a good gymnast and a good cheerleader i could d o almost everything but 1 problem is that im bad at back walkovers can some1 email me and tell me step by step how 2 do it pleaz email me @ sourapples27 2@yahoo.com
