build up momentum from a round-off and let your body continue backward as you jump. this is an easy flip to excecute, but may take some time to land.

Standing layout
by Meninao on 2002-12-25
First of all people should:
a)read previous posts with tips before just writing How do I do a .....?
b)cheerleaders and such should really get help from there coach or other people on their team who can do the move. Live help and spotting will beat online written advice
c)Keep posts relevant to the move stated, there are boards for back handspring and tucks, ask them there

My question is a standing layout possible or do you need a roundoff for momentum.

please help me?

by Anonymous on 2003-01-18
Meninao, I don't think a standing layout is possible without momentum. The closest would be a flash kick but even then the body isn't straight throughout the entire flip.

Here's a hint for anyone trying to tumble into layouts. When you do the hop step into the roundoff at the beginning of the tumbling pass, arch the upper back a little bit as you hop. When you enter the roundoff "snap" your arched back forward and then do the tumbling pass. This, I find, gives more flipping momentum allowing you to flip faster. Many people tend to droop the upper body before the roundoff causing it to slow down or not get optimal momentum.

round-off into anything
by Anonymous on 2003-06-19
When doing a round-off into just about anything make sure that you dont double prep, when you land go & don't pause so you have the energy to carry you over. I have found that when people pause they fall more often.

okee dokee guys. Yes, u can do a back layout without any equipment. Basically, if u can pull off a cartwheel twisting the end part to where u land facing the direction u came from(not u started, but came from) then just do a back flip after it. U have to have a lot of momentum with it and it looks best if u can keep ur feet straight through the whole back flip.

by Ryan Ringle on 2003-10-17
This flip is actually prety easy to do from a roundoff.I learned it on my second attempt. How i learned it is:
1)Get a lot of running space.
2)Once you get some speed do a fasf roundoff then do a backhandspring jumping as high as you can.
3)Keep doing it until you make it all the way around without your hands.
4)Then give it another try jumping straight up,arms by your sides, and your legs straight out.

back layouts

Hi I have been doing tumbling tricks for four months or so now I can already pull out front tucks and back tucks on grass landing almost straight up for both. I can also do other stuff on grass or concrete like back and front handsprings stuff like that. Ever since I realized how easy back flips or back tucks were I always wanted to do back layouts standing still or from a roundoff or backhandspring any advice?

Layout
by Ryan Ringle on 2003-11-08
Ya,me to.Ive been in tumbling for 4 months and im already doing front and backhandsprings, airial cartwheels,Front punch and back tucks on grass and cement, layouts, airial walkovers and a sloppy half twist which I never land.Just try a layout from a roundoff thats how I learned it.

Back Layout, Handspring , and Tuck
by Trish on 2004-03-07
Hello Guys, now I would assume that you are perfo rming these stunts in a gym with mats, But I am a gym nast I have been taking it for 14 years I will do my b est to help you.

Back Handspring- The back ha ndspring is a difficult skill, if you think about it it basically jumping backwards in a handstand and coming back down so, Start with your hands bye your ears and elbows always locked swing the hand s backwards still locked and as you swing them bac kwards your body is bending to the floor as your kn ees bend and your butt is about to touch the floor o r ground swing arms forward and back and jump back wards and jump hard, have your hands beside your e ars the entire time, and arms must be tightly lock ed. After you have got the back handspring we shou ld move onto the back layout.

Back Layout-Th is stunt is basically a back handspring without h ands or so that is how it looks. No you cannot do a st anding back layout so you have to add speed such as Round Off Backhandspring Back layout, or Round o ff back layout. While doing this skill you need to get major height, as you are doing it legs tight an d straight and your hands should be in a tight fist and arms by your side, you must sure that your legs do not curl and they have to be completely straigh t, you should know this if you have a perfect back h andspring.

Back Tuck- Basically A "back Fli p" this can be performed standing but that is a maj or step, first the back tuck tuck as in tucking int o a ball so your chest kinda touching your thighs a nd you hands should be placed on the back of your th ighs so you will tuck, it is easiest when you do rou ndoff back handspring back tuck.

Roundoff B ack Handspring- Easier by far than a standing bac k handspring. So you get your height from your reb ound from the round off and jump backwards.

by Anonymous on 2004-04-27
Pirouettes are really easy once you get the hang of them. I have been dancing for 13 years now and ha ve my quad and am working for 5. The main thing you n eed to remember is to spot. Find something on the w all and just keep your eyes on it. You also need to r emember to pull up on your supporting leg and to re lax your shoulders. Thats prettyu much it
