A rushing attack using the hands. The front hand is raised as an overhead block/decoy. the attacker then lunges into thier opponent and uses a straight reverse punch (using back hand) as the attack. finaly the back foot is brought in front (heel first) to stop the attacker's momentum. A winning kickboxing technique at basic leval.
set your apposition up with a couple of fakes to get them jittery lift your leg up sharp as if about to throw a Mawashigeri ( round house ) however you change this in mid flow to a front kick. If done with commitment and speed your opposition will try to cover a percieved round house and so leaving themself open to the front kick
The blitz or diving blitz is an offensive technique used when point fighting. To do it you put your weight on your front leg and jump off of it. As you jump forward you are throwing a backfist and reverse punch right after. Raymond Daniels does it perfectly.
dear sir/madam (if replying by email please respond to paul@bargains.co.uk not this address)
i am a 2nd dan black belt in shukokai/shito-ryu karate and train in manchester. I am after some karate videos for this style of karate and am interested in videos that show the advanced katas i.e kata's from 2nd dan onward - can you help?
If you have a catalogue please forward to: paul morris, 23 woodward road, manchester. m25 9tx.
In order to blitz better work on explosive techniques such as rapid sprints. your backfist and reverse should be sharp as well. when throwing the blitz make sure u have the proper distance. u don't want to be too close or too far. make sure u throw it when ur opponent is shaken by fakes then throw it with full intent on scoring. keep ur guard up afterwards so u wont get countered.
the blitz is a speed technique however the best blitzers use it when the opponent can't respond. In other words its more than just speed. a good time to use it is after ur opponent throws a technique suck as a spining technique. most opponents are seldom well guarded and never expect to be blitzed. always remember angles as well. blitzes work well on a reposistion. as a drill have a partner hold up two targets. blitz them and cover up with ur guard. do this serveral time. a good fighter knows that drills are the key to mastery. peace out!!!
i think the best blitz comes from an ability to throw a range of various fast punches so the the opponent is unable to block all the hits but must instead cover up. this is a very good move for counterinf an opponent who has to reposition themself after launching a failed attack. if used properly it is a surehot move to winning tournaments where you force your opponent to cover up.
You do not need speed contrary to what all these previous posts say. Just make sure you dont telegraph (ie. dont make any head movement, keep the same height) so the opponent wont see you coming. Also move off your back leg first. A first movement off the front leg moves the upper body forward so much its just asking to be punched in the face. (distractions and multiple attacks help this technique immensely)If done correctly your first punch should score rather than making your opponent cover up.
I would disagree, blitzing IS all about speed. raising the hand provides an excellent decoy and rarely fails in leaving the body open for a reverse punch. It is natural reaction for almost anyone to raise their hands when your front arm is raised. the key to the perfect blitz is a combination of speed, a fast back hand, and an accurate reverse punch to seal the point.
oh and another good idea to vary up your blitzing is to try coming in witha ridge hand followed by reverse punch; this way your opposition will not be able to find a way of predicting and defending your blitz
I agree with all you guys. You guys are all right. There is no best way, just your way. Some blitzers rely only on speed but these guys are naturally bl azing. Speed is necessary I can't possibly imagi ne a slow blitzer being successful. HoweverIf yo ur not "AS FAST" then you need to use the blitz afte r a fake when the opponent doesn't expect it. I agr ee with Lee on Your technique needs to be sharp, an d you can vary the blitz with different technique s, its still a blitz though.
I agree with both theories above. I have great co mpetitiors at my studio over 35 years. The slow bl itz can work if not telegraphed. The speed blitz s hould be lead, backfist lead to head, rev.punch t o head, then again to body, then reverse the order and lead with the rev punch to body.Extend should ers all the way and get madimum range on your rever se punch going one inch into the body. Study Raymo nd Daniels and Jack Felton...Past blitzers were nasty anderson,Dan Anderson,Fred King,Chip Wr ight etc. The exact distance is the key. Do it on th e heavy bag 500 times a day and it will come out on it s own when the distance is clear. Dont hesitate at all or your chances of success are diminished gre atly. 99 % chance of success
I am a former 2nd degree black belt under Pat John son, the former captain of the Churck Norris figh ting team. My instructor recieved his black belt s from Mr. Norris and Mr. Johnson. Mr. Norris was n ot the fastest fighter out there in his day...Mik e Stone was faster, I believe that Joe Lewis proba bly was too. Point being that Norris could close t he gap with timing and distance so well that you di dn't see him coming. Just go to the black belt mag a rchives and read what Skipper Mullins said about Norris!!!Deception is just as much of a blitz as s peed is. You do not have to be fast as much as you hav e to have timing and distance. If your opponent's weight is on his front leg he's in position to coun ter with a good punch. If his weight is on his back l eg he's in position to counter with a kick. A fight er has to get his opponent off of his set point posi tion then attack properly (blitz). By the way, ha ving attended many workouts taught by Pat Johnso n personally, I can attest to this as being the Nor ris method. Mr. Johnson only lost one match in his career on Norris' team. That speaks volumes abou t his theories. Chris Jensen is right in that Chip Wright, one on Mr. Norris' black belts, is a good b litzer. My instructor was one of Chip's old train ing partners. Just remember guys that distance a nd timing are not inferior to speed. YOu could be t he fastest blitzer but have terrible distance an d timing and never hit anyone. I fought Ryan Huntl ey several times at open tournaments, one of Raym ond Daniels toughest old opponents. Ryan could b litz good but I did land some good counters to his b litzes. So remember that a good fighter needs to b e well rounded, not one thing over emphasized.
