Well I can just about do it, and I weigh 200 lbs and a m6 ft tall. trust me my build isn't as good as I want it to. It may have some impact, but not as much as some peopel will say!!!
ok i really need ur help if u can spare it ppl...I dont know how 2 do this kick at all.can ANYBODY help me how to do this.i taught my-self an au batido which im proud of and im now willing to give this ago could u plz write down some intruction on how 2 do this if u can or e-mail me.
Being a shorter person does help to perform some move, but I conquer with Nick it is the person that matters. I weigh 182 pound and I'm 5'11 1/2''and I'm pretty portly, but I can do front handsprings, one-handed cartwheel, kip ups, front splits and a fair, but not perfect butterfly kick deally. People reading this will probable think I'm bragging, but anyone can do or learn how to do these things. Honestly to me, it look kind of cool when people on the heavy side can do flashy acrobatics. Take Hong Kong action star Sammo Hung for instance.
from the very beginning, start in a deep front stance to your right (lean torso forward); then pivot to a deep horse stance (ideally w/ your torso parallel to the ground/back straight); then pivot to deep front stance left side. Do this quickly. When you get to your left front stance, keep rotating counter-clockwise, but kick your right leg up directly behind you (toes pointed, top of foot facing down) and arch your back. Keep your left foot on the ground, for now. Practice this several times till you get real fast, then when you feel comfortable, right after you throw your right leg back, kick off w/ your left leg as well. Kick it straight behind you and arch your back; land on your right foot.
When I do this move, I can't get my body horizontal enough and my first kick is way too low. Also, I have trouble keeping me legs straight. If anyone has any tips for me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
well..its not that hard to do but to make it actually look decent you have to make sure your body is completely horizontal in the air, as well as your legs relatively straight with your feet above your head, easier said than done huh?
What I recommend doing is for doing a lead-right b-kick, take a step with your left foot, then a step with your right, then kick your left leg behind your right and spin your body as you lower your upper body.. swing your arms down, then as you spin, lift your right leg up and swing your arms into the air and jump and just follow through with your left and ta-da!
Try putting your hands on a counter and then kicking up first your right leg then your left. Make sure your legs are straight and that your torso stays horizontal. If it doesn't either the kick will look cruddy or you will be spending some time in the hospital. This is also a move in Figure skating and gymnastics by the way.
Please tell me which part of the leg hits, and how which part of the body of the opponent does it hit so I can get a better idea of what it looks like. I have often got some of these kicks names confused.
try doing a regular cartwheel...if you do it on your left side then instead of putting your left hand first, put ONLY your right hand down, and swing first your right leg, then your left leg so your body is horizontal. don't try to actually do a cartwheel, you only have to get your body horizontal. remember to keep your legs wide spread. Imagine you have your oppenent in front of you, and you put your hand down and swing your whole body, kicking him with your right, then your left leg. (Confusing enough?) Now after you've done this a couple of times, you're hopefully in for this movement...just try doing the same thing but instead of puting your right hand down, bend your upper body downwards then push it up and throw your legs around like before.
read what abråxas wrote a couple of rows above, it's a very good way of getting momentum.
to do this obviously you must learn how to do an aerial first (no hand cartwheel) the book Kung fu elements by liang and Wu has a good describtion with pictures go to waydragon.com
ok lets say ur going to kick off with ur right leg first, when ur in position ur left leg should be either just across ur right leg or a little behind it. Bend down a little bit and swing your arms reallllly hard, so if your in position facing north, swing your arms and when your arms are facing west ( dont stop swinging your arms) kick up ur right leg, it should lift up STRAIGHT UP dont worry about turning it should do that naturally, then kick up your left leg vertically. And wa la! i hope you ppl can understand these instructions... ^_^
TO u flipper This move Can be Hard But with the right twist and technique i did it with in 2 days. The biggest tip i can give u is move the top half ov your body in a U shape from left to right or right to left which ever way you are going, also kick your back leg up hard and lift your frount as late as possiable while keeping all your body stright it just takes some trile and error. Good luck
hi, i'm a cheerleader at waubonsie valley high school, everyone in my squad can do a back handspring, including me. But no one has been able to do a back tuck. Please email me and tell me some tricks. Erika
well i can do a butterfly kick now, but when i was trying 2 perfect it(well make it better anywayz:)) instead of swinging my left behind my right foot i swung it in front of my right foot. Thus causing me to do an upside down butterfly kick with my stomach pointing 2 the ceiling instead of the floor. my legs were like \/ instead of /\ that, if u get my meaning. i was wondering if this was some tning new i stumbled upon or is this sum other move that idon't know about?
sounds like you did a double leg 540. sometimes called a rainbow kick. kinda like a tornado kick with both legs straight out. if that's what you did. this move is done in capoeira. (as seen in tekken)
If u are experienced like me u should be able 2 do a windmill or a cartwheel. a butterfly kik iz not as horizontal as a wind mill and not as vertical as a cartwheel. your body shouild be slanted in between both and it should be easy as your body attempts 2 do a winmill but your mor upright possition stops u and there u did a butter fly.
i don;t think this is a very effective technique to employ in a fight. it is more aesthetic than effective. this may become more obvious when you compare wushu to (for arguments sake) taekwondo, where we can really compare aestheticsm to practicality.
well the butterfly kick would be more usefull in a fight when employing an evasive manouver, and also it is a good way to keep an opponent away, who wants to attack 2 flying feet? The difficulty lies in where your feet are going to kick towards especially when your in a fight, you just don't hav time to think about things like that.
In reply in to your post Yum, I also believe this move is fucking great and I also have an orgasm over it. I have mastered the techique of using your index and middle fingers to ram up your cranny while In mid air in a Butterfly Kick. If you can master this you can have multiple splenderous orgasms which result In the overflowing come and the glorious result of a choclate coated pretsel or also known as the gravy battered butterfly. I think this move is fucking awesome and I really like performing it, especialy after I watch Lord of The Rings, all that putting fingers into holes and that, gets me right off. Im going to go further master this trick of absolute masturbation and splender. Peace out
I have seen the butterfly many a times but i cant do it i know how but it wont work i can get to the butterfly part and atfter that i cant get my legs up do any of you know a good exercize that will get my legs up higher and my jumps extra higher. e-mail me if possible thanks!!!
I can do butterfly pretty good most of the time, but sometimes when I do it my right leg comes up fast and my left leg comes up really slow, so my left leg doesn't even come up until my right leg almost hits the floor.
the butterfly kick isnt really hard at all! in fact, most people find it easier than a cartwheel. if you've watched people doing them enough, you will pick up on it pretty quick. somtimes it is easier if before the actual thing, you do a spin with a chop. then just do what you think it would be like. chances are you will get it right. with practice, you will get all the details (such as how high off the ground your legs should be) down and you will be able to do a butterfly!
I suggest you watch some movies (here's one of me performing it : http://it01.lbs.se/it01niclash/mini_butterfly.zip , roughly 3mb and quicktime format, extract before opening )
Also check www.lucasarts.com/products/jediacademy -> skillfull moves of the jedi -> saber staff -> butterfly kick .. I learned myself doing it by watching that movie in slow motion a lot
I need help on the right leg landing for the butterfly kick. I've watched videos and read articles, and I've sorta taught myself how to do this kick, but I always end up on my back when I try to do this kick. This is hard, considering I train on wood floors =\.
If anyone has any tips for me that would help me land this darned kick please email me. Thanx
who here likes to party down? well ill tell you what....learn a butterfly kick and youll be he life of the party, all you have to do is perform this spectacle of a movr and youll be on your wayto thrown with that name tag on your royal suit that says -life of the party- so sit down, get up, sit up, and most importantly ... GET DOWN!!!!!!!! (butterfly kick action is the way to go...peace out)
I want to learn how to do this and i think i found a video that i can analyse. Its in star wars episode 1 when Ray Park (Darth Maul) in the final lightsabre battle does it then throws something at the control panel to the walkway room. Can somebody confirm for me that this is a b-kick please?
when u do a butterlfy kick, i think you CAN do it with two people, right? here's a picture with two persons. <img src= http://members.fortunecity.com/othertv/etaug/001.jpg> <img src= http://members.fortunecity.com/othertv/etaug/003.jpg> <img src= http://members.fortunecity.com/othertv/etaug/004.jpg> <img src= http://members.fortunecity.com/othertv/etaug/005.jpg> where the person grabs you like that then flips you?
The butterfly is a beautiful kick...but what is cooler than one butterfly? Eight consecutive butterflies. When you complete your first kick and land facing the way you started you still have plenty of momentum in th kicking direction (for me it's easier to do towards my left side) So use this momentum to your advantage. When both feet are back on the ground swing your head around towards the kicking direction and do another butterfly. If you get the flow right your head dips into the first kick, rises as you finnish it and dips straight into the next one. practise outside with lots of room. if you find yourself going in circles slow down and kick lower until you get the rythim. If you get really good at this one you should be able to do at least five in a row before your technique starts to deteriorate. Once you can do several, practice at full speed and who knows? Maybe you will be able to turn it into a no handed cartwheel or 180 front flip at the end of a chain of three kicks. Super cool jet lee styles!!!! PEACE!
If you've never done this before heres how i trie d it and mastered it in about a week. first of all you stand in a horse stance (with your knies bent a nd your legs apart), than you put the foot you want to begin the kick with behind you and make a turn to the direction of the foot youve put foreward. (th is is for gaining speed it helps getting you highe r) when youve completed your turn trow the foot th at was behind in the air spin your body and trow you r other leg at it as well. Im not saying its easy im j ust saying it easyier try it :)
ok, I can never get this kick right, wenever im tu rning my body and legs I hop on my leg that's on the g round and I kan never do it in 1 motion, can sum1 ple ase give me advice? Thnx --TKDTina
I start with right side fighting stance. I swing my left hand down by my let hip to gain momentum. I s weep my left foot around and in to a narrow horse ri dding stance. Then dip down and jump off the groun d. the hole time still spining counter clockwise ending up with my body out over my left le when I jum p bringing my right leg up and then left leg up. I ar ch my back to look like I am higher and as momentum u pward. float for a second and finish the rotation and land faceing forward. I have been doing this k ick for 4-5 years.
when i swing my first foot forward, its fine. whe n i do the other foot, it's always bent alot like an L. i cant keep my back leg straightened out with ou t falling
who does tkd (tae kwon do).and c i can do most of th is stuff not pro tho.but i keep trying and i get bet ter and better just look and read and watch ppl do i t so eventually you'll get it.im me a TKD4EVER2
this kick isn't scary or hard, anyone with the fu ll use of their legs can do this, so listen up if y our a beginner try to get as much momentum as possi ble by moving forward, like you're doing the kick but just walking, now comes the kick, with your ri ght leg back and the left one in front (i like to do i t this side, cause i got more strength in my right l eg) now swing your arms to the left and dip your bod y down as far as possible (keep it down and moving t o the left) now your body wil be at a point where all that swingen and dippen is gonna make it pull your legs away, so use this and throw your back leg (rig ht in this case) up as hi as you can, now your body wi ll keep moving to the left (so you won't see your ki ck)the first kick should have started to pull you r body of the ground and now bash your former front al leg (left) into the air making you turn and land in about the same position you where before (only a bit to the front)
note: any first timers, yo u're gonna try this and be disapointed, but pract ice as hard as you can, you won't notice your inpro vement but you'll know you're doing it right when you show this to people and they're inpressed
so work hard and e-mail me if you have any questio ns at siulongfighter@hotmail.com and pls if y ou do tell me what trick you're talking about and w hat website you learned about me
dis trick sux cus ders shit on it- this tricks eas y just work your way up to going horizontal and get momentum by taking a jogging start then turn your body to the left and kick your leg out straight lik e doing a back kick kinda then that will give you al ot of momentum to just do the damn kick and land it w ith your foot that took off first
so what you do is you can get a little momentum by s pinning around while your running then u jump the n twist and kick back at the same time with both fee t one at a time im still 12 so try it if it doesnt work i might be wrong :)
A lot of people have the problem where they can't keep their legs straight while in the air. From re ading all the posts here, it seems like a lot of you have the same problem. The way my instructor forc ed me to straighten my legs was to find something ( anything, really) that is about the same height a s your waist. Place this next to you, and do your bu tterfly kick over it. This fixed my problem in les s than 10 kicks. Hope it helps.
You first can do a spin kick to the left and then be nd your upper body downwards and go left and when y ou cant go any further, kick a leg up high and hard, because the outcome of this whole move will hbe de termined by that one kick. The momentum shouldm b e able to spin you around.
Has anyone seen the new Dodgeball movie? When Gl obo Gym faces the Kamikazees, the one guy on the Ka mikazees does a really cool backflip/sideflip t hing. You can get the clip at <<<http://movies.y ahoo.com/shop?d=hv&id=1808508171&cf=trail er>>>. Does anyone know what that move is or what i t's called?
I learned how to do a buttefly kick a few weeks ago , but it came to me that i was never actually going t o use it, but it's still a cool trick. No disrespec t.
To be honest I learned this trick by accident whe n trying to do a 360 roundhouse followed by a hook. But the way to do it is to get a turning start counte r-clockwise and let the right leg go first follow ed by the left. Took me 2 tries! HA!
i take kungfu and the butterfly kick was a requir ement for purple belt...its very simple...some people said cart wheels are harder, thats a lie bu t its definitely easy if you do it like this. get in position for it then pretend to do a one handed car t wheel with the hand that is infront...but inste ad of putting the hand down on the ground, swoop it to the side, this gives u the momentum ...but ofco urse you'll have to know how to do a one handed cart wheel firt ...believe me...thats the best advis e youll get. so this thread can might as well just e nd right now.
For people who still cant master this kick, I kno w how you feel. I spent three months trying to lear n it, and I've just got it down. Here are a few tips.
I swing back with my left leg for momentum, bu t as I do so, I lift my hands and sweep them down by my sides as I bend down in the "U" motion. Though it lo oks stiff, it helps. Now though, I sort of swish my arms about to make it look better, which it does.
I started watching myself do this in front of a mirror, and then videotaped myself. Videotapin g yourself allows you to view what you need to impr ove in, obviously.
i can launch my self off the ground and get the kic k out, but i can't get the laning, i am always havin g to catch myself with my hands or falling down. Wh at should i do?
If you're having trouble with the butterfly, wh ether you haven't done one for a long time or have n ever done one, try some of these things.
Firs t, before actually executing, spin a few times co unter clock wise to work up your momentum, then go through the procedures in one fluid motion. Puri sts don't like this technique, but it can help you get your movement.
Second, use your arms. Let them work up some motion and use them all the wa y through the kick. They help balance, stabilize , and also can really help with your landing. Basi cally, let them do an "organized" flail.
an easier form of this kick is to start with eithe r foot forward (ill explain with right forward). turn counterclockwise half a turn without movin g feet. left outer cresent kick. continue turnin g with right inner cresent kick and land. (u can ke ep on doin many of these in a row.)
put ur arms up and swing ur top part of body like a U making u swing diagonaly upwards then kick the ba ck leg and follow with the other leg and land. be lo ose with ur body.
