This move is easy. When you do it, Run semi-fast and throw your arms over your head as hard as you can while jumping. You jump up and then tuck your legs to your chest and stretch your arms out.
This move is easy to exicute but hard to land, i find it easier to take 2 steps, one with the foot you have the most power, then your your weak foot, as you put your weak foot down set while swinging your strong leg up, jump and throw your arms over your head.
its good if u knoe how to do a backflip first... -_-; dis move is scary when u first start but ull over come the fear a couple tyms .. well depends what happens .... ?????

in order to do a flash kick you need to understand flipping. in any flip you need to get your hips above your head. this takes lots of power if done standing and lots of technique if done moving. if you jump straight up your body may need 500lbs of lift to get 2 feet off the ground. to flip your going to need about 600 to 700 lbs of lift. in either front or back flips your head should stay at about the same height and your hips travel an arc over your head. your flip will be either front back or gainer depending on your shoulder to hip line. (aka. in front/on top/behind the shoulders) your jump "lift weight" is called "hip press" a gainer takes the least amount of hip press because your using upward momentum from a swinging leg to generate lift. so in order to do a flash kick from standing you should have a small lunge (sp) with weight on a balanced leg and a strong swinging leg in back with little to no weight on it. hips should be high and shouldn't dip more then an inch or two during the flip. the chest starts low (30 to 45 degrees above horizontal) when you initiate the flip you should swing your arms up 4x faster then your chest and your chest 4x faster then your hip press (the jump off your balance leg) essentially timing your chest lift to complete 5 degrees behind your hip line. shoulders must be behind the hip line or your flip will travel low and forward and most likely put you on your face or knees 7 inches to a foot 3 inches infront of where you started. your foot should travel as lengthened as possible (you lose momentum if you start to tuck early) upward infront of the body finishing its lift at about 65 to 75 degrees (shy of vertical 90) this can vary depending on the flexability of the person, generally the higher the leg goes the further the chest goes back, if the chest goes back too far the body gets very little lift and rotation in the flip is slow and you land on your teeth breaking one tooth and getting rug burn on your cheek. this happens because the body no longer keeps its connection to the upper body and the upper body becomes dead "dragging" weight. if you throw the head back be carefull because looking for the floor early (while helpful for a handspring) will keep you low, and if you do go up be aware that up becomes down when upside down, so if your trying to look at the floor you may see the ceiling and hurt yourself. better to keep the head down because once you pass 3/4 of the flip you will naturally see the floor.
to simplify.
jump hard after your chest travels slightly behind you and pull your kicking leg over your head and back down to the floor (bend your knee!!!! on the landing!) so you don't break or tear something. if your traveling slowly bring your legs in to speed up.
this is just a path to follow for standing and can be modified for running and walking, but the principles are exactly the same. while many of these things can be varied in proportion to each other (if you don't get your chest back fast enough you can still make it to your feet while traveling forward but will need 200 plus more lbs of hip press (jump_))
a good place to practive this is on a trampoline because it will give you that 200 extra lbs of lift that you need to compensate for mistakes. a matt will kill your lift and will only make your face flops less painful but more frequent. use something springy to learn this. if you dont' have something springy have someone "spot" you by lifting your lower back over your head then catching your stomach as you land to protect your knees. spotter be carefull that you don't get smacked or prohibit the arm swing at the beginning of the flip.
hope this helps everyone, email me to tell me when you get this.
I am no gymnast but what I know is that onge your ##RiBcAgE## is parallel to ground and over 1.5 feet off tha ground, u should practice it and not give it up, in that pos, u can put hands down without twisting them in manners that need the whole body to move.
A Folha Secca does not need to be done gainer style, and is different. The Folha Secca requires one leg be thrown first like a kick which gives you rotational momentum, the other leg jumps. You land on that first leg and the second follows keeping distance apart for the whole flip. This can be done as a gainer(body travelling opposite direction of rotation) but it is easier to do a little 180 turn first. It also helps getting momentum from a jumping chibata kick and not putting that kicking leg down but throwing it right into the folha secca.
the way i learned it was...well first i learned how to do a backflip (easy) then after i learned how to do a backflip i just "somehow accedentally" jumped foward instead of back and well thats all i can say
its sooooo easy to do this move all i do instead off running, i just swing my right arm like u do for a bakflip, just with the right arm, and go off my left foot and tuck my thighs. simple easy done!
i got an ok back tuck so im thinkin bout tryin one could some1 give me detailed instructions on how 2 do one cause im really scared lol poor baby but like how high u have 2 jump when u kick when u jump and like ya thats about all thanx peace
ive done this before in capoeir but i went too far. what you want to do is run then turn like a hook then kick your back leg up hard like your gonna kick yourself in the face and land on the leg you kicked with. try to keep your legs extended.
Gainers are pretty easy to do. I learned this the second time I tried it at school. You take a small step with your least domonate foot, take a big step with your domonate foot(but not too big), then swing your least domonate foot up and over you. At the same time, swing your arms back and jump with your domonate foot. Be carefull not to hurt yourself
It is odd...but i was trying a totally different thing and it turned out to be a gainer. Odd to me. I did'nt think i was doing a gainer until I showed my friend it and he told me so. But now I practice them. They're alot of fun. I went to a TKD camp and Master Joey Perry showed me and other people a Gainer. And I was like in awe or something. He got really high. Wow,I thought.
There are a couple ways to do gainers. I use the way with my legs apart like the front splits. I take a few steps and then i throw my right leg as high as it goes without leaving the ground. As i do that i throw my arms like a backflip at the same time. When my leg is as high as it can go withour leaving the ground i jump. I pull my front leg to my chest. After that i land. It uses the same form as a backflip kinda. GOOD LUCK!
I have done countless Folha Secas and one thing I can say is you NEVER tuck while doing one ever. There is a distinct stylistic approach between the gainer and the Folha Seca. With a Folha Seca, it looks like a Flash kick layout. Once you get the momentum from the initial swinging kick (kick HARD), push your hips as high as you can go and look backward with your back straight. YOU WILL GET MAJOR AIR! Many people do them with legs spread and tucked in like a jackknife, many others start off as a folha seca, but then rotate and turn it into an au sem mao (kind of like an aerial). Both of these approaches have a place, but they are not Folha seca. Just my 2 cents.
Folha secca is a sweet move, which indeed I would love to learn, it is said that Mestre Bimba could do one standing on his sandles and land perfectly back on top of them at the age of 50. And I'm too scared to try it even once!
That was Acordeon, he was the first capoeirista to incorporate acrobatics into Regional. They didn't even have macacos in capoeira until then. At least that's what I was told by Bimba's successor in Salvador. Regardless, I've seen a kid do the sandal thing (but he was 22, a LOT less impressive!) :)
I tried this move a few times, I didn't land on my head thankfully, but I did land on my hands really hard and went into a weird handspring. Can someone tell me an easy way to they practice this move?
i just learned them on trampolines, but i dont relaly bounce, i jsut take a step with my left leg (im right legged) then a step with my right, then i throw my left leg up and jump and tuck and i usually end up landing with my right leg a lil behind my left and that helps me land cuz if i alnd with my feet together, i fall forward and the trampoline dont give me much xtra jumps, so if u cna do them on tramps w/o bouncing i betcha u cna do them on ground
Hi I have been doing tumbling tricks for four months or so now I can already pull out front tucks and back tucks on grass landing almost straight up for both. I can also do other stuff on grass or concrete like back and front handsprings, something like a 180 front flip, a side flip, sometimes when I do my back tucks on the grass I dont even tuck and end up twisting in the middle of it pulling off a 180 back flip. I can do one handed front handsprings, and am working on one handed back handsprings. The move I want to get now is gainer flips any advice?
DZ MOVES EASY 2 DO.......................... ......................................... ...IF U NO HOW 2 DO IT!!!AL I DO IS SWING MY STRONG LE G UP AN TRY 2 GO ALL THE WAY OVER.
a gainer is fairly easy. all u have 2 do is step wit h ur left foot, then swing ur right leg towards ur l eft shoulder(that should give u the momentum u ne ed)then jump as high as u can and arch your bak. if u got any questions e-mail me
ouch.......that really hurt i landed on my head and GOT IT ON TAPE WAHOO!! but any tips on what to do on a gainer if you land on yer head? cause it really hurt =\
yea i landed my first gainer tonight on my first t ry, it was really easy actually, all i did was like basically took 1 step forward then did a backflip , then i took 2, then 3, and then 4 then after i could do that 4 step thingy pretty easy i just made my spe ed quicker and quicker and now i can start jogging and BAM throw out a backflip and i land no problem. .....still have any trouble just post it on this p age ill get back to ya if ya want hehe
first of all, while flipping, at the very start b ow your neck like u are willing to see the floor, th is helps me landing it succesfull. but if u reli aze your gonna fall on your head i advise bringing your hands under u and try to save yourself by chan ging the move to a back handspring
