gymnastic move where while moving forward the hands come down together onto the ground and the body flips over landing on the feet. arms are straight and close to side of head during the movement.
This is quite easy. First try to get the hand stand down. Then Just go down. Afer falling a few dozen times, you will gain the mentall powerr you need. Then take 2 front teps and do it with all your mind and remember to swing your legs down and bend it too!
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GET YOUR HANDSTAND DOWN. MAKE SURE YOUR LEGS ARE STRAIGHT IN YOUR HANDSTAND. THEN ONCE YOU GET THE HANDSTAND DOWN ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS... DO A HANDSTAND AND LET YOUR LEGS FLIP OVER SO YOU LAND IN A BACK BEND.WHEN YOU LET YOUR LEGS FLIP OVER LOOK AT YOUR HANDS AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT TO FAR FROM YOUR HEAD. IF IT IS THEN YOU WILL LAND ON YOUR HEAD I AM A 6 YEAR GYMNASTIC TRUST ME THIS WORKS.
do u need to be flexible to do this. if so wht exercies do i need to be flexible enough for the hand spring. well post it or email me. thanx alot . BYE
Doin a handspring is mostly confidence. its easier 2 start off doin headsprings then just do it without puttin ur head down. also when u go up bout half way kick as hard as u can
If your back is not flexible enough to bend over from a handstand, then instead of doing that take a short running start and throw your upper body down, and put your arms to the floor BENT, then when you go over, try to keep your legs straight and once you are past the handstand and your feet are beginning to go toward the floor, PUSH with your arms, that will get your upper body back up so you don't end up on your back.
uhh i do my front handsprings with all push from my hands. i dont get into a handstand... i just flip over using the pushing force from my hands. i always land on my feet crouched down . how can i land straight?
please help me. i cant land straight front handsprings. im not that flexible so could you tell me some excersises i could do to increase my flexibility. heres what i do...i run...throw my hands down...flip my legs over and push hard. then i flip over and land squatting so it makes it look like crap. so if you all could lead me the right direction on where to start, id like that.
What you need to do is make sure ur feet are straight and ur arched AFTER u do the handstand(arch). If this doesnt work check out some books about Gymnastics at your local library.
I really love cheerleading, but now that i am in high school, you need to be flexible and able to do splits, and flips, and stuff...please help me by giving me some tips!!! I will try anything!!! I have a little less than a year before try outs for next years JV squad!!! Please help!
A website with help on this stuff? What does this place look like? If you can't find it on here it will usually provide a link to get somewhere else. OPEN YOUR EYES!!
How I learned it was to do a handstand, fall forwads into a bridge, and stand up without touching the ground with anything but your hands and feet. Try it on a beach, and get it down into one motion.
The only problem with my front handspring is springing up and landing. I want to be able to this for cheerleading because all the 8th graders can do it and none of the 7th graders, being me, and since next year the 8th graders will be gone i really need some help!!
Okay, this is all you have to do.. first sorta run and then put your hands down to go into a handstand and push off really hard, the kick as powerfully as possible, then take your hands of the ground and land with your feet on the ground and your body sort of like you are sittin in a chair, with your hands up!
When I do a front handspring I just run.Almost as fast as I can , and from there just fall into a handstand. The momentum will carry you over. WARNING!!! if you run to fast you'll go overboard and land on your face!
I am trying to do a front handspring. I can do a handstand but i just can't get my legs over my head fast enough and end up landing on my butt. how do i get my legs all the way over my head?

I always thought this was hard to do and i cud neva do it and i struggled a LOT. I felt like givin up but after a week of doin nuffin i tried to do it a different way in my back garden and it was soooo easy. Alls u have to do is make sure u hav enuf speed (not runnin as fast as posible but fast) put ur hands down slightly bent (not to much) and then just as u are past 1/2 way straighten them. and u should land.
Hey hunnayz. Any one need help with front hand springs... well run, jump, land on hands, flip legs over as fast as you can,and hopefully you don't do a double front hand spring, cause that's what happens to me half the time.
Hey whenever i do a front handspring i flip over and end up landing on my butt i tryed the arm bending thing but i just crash on my head. can anyone help me with this?
I learned an important thing when I was trying to master a roundoff back handspring. It's a mental thing, to be able to do a good handspring or really any difficult tumble you have to believe you can, don't think about hurting yourself, just about doing a really good job of it, picture a perfect one in your head and go for it. If you don't feel comfortable get a spotter to help.

Ok. I'm a cheerleader and the only tumbles I can do are front handspring, forward tucks, cartwheels, roundoff, and backbend. The only problem with my problem with my fhs is when I go over, my momentum slows down slightly, and when I land, I land in a squatlike position, (I see a lot of peeps have that problem too) Well, what can I do to help make me come up straight quickly without 'getting up' :-). Perhaps use more of my abs or arm power? Anything!?! Please email me if U know anything.
i'm 15 years old and trying out for cheerleading in may I need help to do a spilt and to do hand spring can somebody please help with a daily excise schedule please i need help
Anyone that wants help or a talk through some tumbling stuff, e-mail me! I've been doing tumbling almost my whole life and if I can't help you, I can ask my tumbling instructor at my weekly classes!
I really need help because i can not seem to get the front hand spring. I can get up but when i fall i always colapes and land on my back! please help me!
I've never tried this move because I run really fast and put a lot of power into my tumbling. So if I tried this move and something went wrong it would be extremely painful. And I think you would probably need to learn a backhanspring before you could do a fronthandspring so that your fronthandspring would be really good.
Please help me i can land on my feet but i am still crouched my friend is a gymnast she tried to help but i just can't i can do a back handspring but i can't do it forward is there a website that teaches you step by step and shows a picture to get the idea

Dude, i learned how to do this in like a week, u need to start off on a trampoline, its definately easier, and for me it works best to let the momentum to take you, dont put to much force into it, or you'll break your arm, peace out! wilber
O.k. i really want to be a cheerleader by the end of next year and i want to be able to do a front handspring, back handspring and the splits by feb/2004 and its july/24/03 and tryouts are at the end of eight grade. I want to really impress the coach! and when ever i do try to do a front handspring a freak. What do i do?!! My E-mail is: Tommygirl_M08@yahoo.com
well. for FHS... wat u need to do is.. basically swing ur arms over ur heads like a circle to the floor then do a handstand but let ur feet go over.. then once ur feet are like 110 degrees or wat , use ur arms and push urself.. then u will be able to do a FHS... practise.. tats what i did to learn mine..
I have been doing gymnastics since i was 4, so i guess im ok. Now, i am a cheerleader at a highscool and I can do hansprings, front and back tucks, toe touches, the splits (duh) all 3 ways, half and full twisting lay-outs, and more. Here is some tips about handsprings-get your handstand down, then practice on the tampoline(if you have one), then kick, arch your back, and sit up with your hands strait in air. DANGEROUS: if you r not warmed up, you can hurt yourself, and, always when you do a handspring u shoold keep your hands next to your head so u do not land on your back, or head.Always have someone watching u incase u where 2 hurt your self. WARNING: when doing a handspring, do not run too fast, or else u will over do it, and land on your face(out of past experiences).
what u gotta do is sorta jump into a handstand. U take a lil run up, skip and hop forward and then ur hands touch but when ur hands hit the ground, ur feet should be already overhead and close to going over. So then when u push up the momentum will carry ur feet over with ur body. the thing i can't get is landing standing up. someone help me on that.
I started learning by doing rolling "kip-ups" s tart in a squating position and put your hands in f ront of you like you are going to go into a handstan d; then roll forward onto your shoulder blades, n ow all at once whip your legs forward and push up of f of your hands and neck. All of the momentum you wi ll put into it naturally to get it, will push you fu rther than you actually need, and hense you will s tumble forwards. After a few times you'll get the hang of it and learn not to use too much power. Afte r mastering it, move on to front hansprings by usi ng the same type of steps only dont roll onto your n eck, and just whip your legs around, you WILL land dont worry about it *italian accent*. then take a walking walking start into it...to find out what one looks like, just download something from eit he Joe Eigo, or Steve Terrada *the guy doing that c ool ass flip on the front page. It is actually easi er than you think, its all about overcomming fear .
Okay, they say that once you learn something lik e this, you never forget it. It's not like that in m y case! lol. I used to be able to do all that kind of s tuff when I did gymnastics (from like ages 4-11). But like after puberty and stuff, my body changed heaps and now I can't do it! I tried this afternoon . I did about 13 and I landed on my back or head or som e awkward position for them all. Damn it was funny , but that's not the point.
I'm definately go ing to have it down pat by the end of the holidays. A ny tips?
the taller you are the harder it is to do gymnasti cs. For a front handspring, run go into a handstan d and push! you'll get it. DON"T GIVE UP! PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

I'm from England and would love to sta rt gymnastics but it is hard to start where I liv e, anyway when I handspring I twist to my left an d squat on the landing. I don't really know why t hough, but it might be that I go in with a straigh t RIGHT arm yet my LEFT arm stays bent. I cannot straighten my left arm because I, well, erm.. . I can't. LOL.
I tried to get these for about 6 years and i just go t the hang of them a few months ago. Some tips are th at you should have a very flexible back and strong shoulders. all you do is run forward (only a littl e so you don't get tired)and do a handstand and whi p your feet off the ground. make sure that you kind a pop off with your shoulders(like you're shrugg ing)and land on your feet. it may take awhile but i f somebody would have given me these tips i would h ave gotten my front handsprings sooner! Good luc k!
I tried doing the FHS today and got it first time. I dont know if upper body strength is a major issue its mainly forwards momentum... just decide whe re you want to put your hands, take 2 steps back, do a wee skip and go for it. I tend to land crouched and obviously that isn't completly stationary but i dont need a run up per se. Just have confidence and practice on a small incline.
I've been in gymnastics since I was 2 and a half an d I still can't seem to get over splits that look so me what like over splits or how to get strong fast b ecause I need it. Whe're competing for top spot on level 5
if you want to land in a standing position, you ha ve to have extremely strong shoulders and tric eps so that you can actually jump off of your h ands. also, for people who get stuck in a bridge , try to shift your weight over you feet first, a nd then stand up.
its easier to do a front handspring if u know how t o do a *front walkover but before u try a FHS on the f loor i sugest u try on the trampoline its a lot easi er and its not scary.
* to do a front walkover u must first be in a handstand then like a front limb er make your feet fall to the ground .. but instead u make one foot at a time fall down. make sure its yu r good foot. then for a front handspring u do a a muc h straighter and faster front limber but make sur e u reach far it makes it easier
i can do a front hand spring and i am pretty flexab le but i can no get over in a back bend can u give me so me tips how 2 get over in a walk over please thank s u
lmfao this is the easiest trick ever for real i learned it when i was 7 years old all by myself with outh a spotter in the SAND just do it on somethin g soft and learn it in 2 minutes i can do a backhan dpsing now with ease and a back flip with little tr ouble PEACE FROM QIQI THE BHS DUDE
hey, here are some tips for front handsprings: 1. be able to do a front walkover 2. once your re ady, take a few steps or a running start and do a VER Y quick handstand 3. then fall into a bridge for a split second 4. stand up, its kinda difficult but once u get enuf confidence and strength, u wil l get it!
