Front Snap Kick
by Steven Rogers on 2001-02-11
I believe that you did a very nice job on explaining the front snap kick, but I do have two comments. I think you should probably tell which stance they are in, and two whether they execute the front snap kick with their back foot or their front foot. I am not trying to be mean, it is just that I have been searching the internet to see whether I do it with my front foot or back foot assuming that I am in a right fighting stance. Please tell me the answer, because I have been searching for a long time, I am going to pre-test next week and I need to know. Thank You.

Front snap aimed at opponent
by FPM on 2001-06-29
This is a useful kick if directed towards your opponents face or midsection. It should be quick and powerful... enough to stun if aimed at the head or knock the wind if aimed at the stomach.

front snap kick stance
by Bill Lammon on 2001-10-14
A front snap kick can be done several different ways. You would be in a front stance. If you kick with your leading foot it would be called a #1 front snap kick. If you use your rear foot it would be called a #2 front snap kick. If you take a step forward with your rear foot then kick with the other it would be called a #3 front snap kick.

From the ginga...
by capoeirista on 2002-06-08
Well, in capoeira, we ginga. Basically, it's a constantly altering stance, swiching which leg is forward or backward while moving side to side. Generally, ponteira is done with the back foot.

Front Kick
by Anonymous on 2002-08-11
Well, for any kick to be effective in a situation it must be trained with both legs in a stance. First train it with the back leg, then train it with the front leg. The front leg is faster but with less power, the back leg is stronger but with less speed. Using either the front leg or back leg depending on what you need for the situation.

Build speed
by ShadowlessTyger on 2002-11-07
I practice with ankle weights. but be careful, pull you leg back before it hyper extends. once you get to ten pound weights or higher take them off and kick some one. you'll feel the extra power too.

Is there a type of frontkick where you kick with the heel of the foot when the leg is snapped out? I would liketo know, since I have been practicing different board breaks and have been trying different kicking techniques.

what?
by dsdfsfsdg on 2002-12-22
I would like to know do you have the leg you are not kicking with facing forward or sidewards.

Drunken kung fu is the real name for it and is the best.

the snap kick
by Anonymous on 2003-06-23
The snap kick is very useful for kicking at the conception line. Or you can kick the crotch if you want. But kicking to the face with a snap kick? I don't know. I guess it's useful if you're flexible.

I FIND THIS THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO DO A SNAP KICK!
by Chris on 2003-07-18
This is how I do it off my right foot. Start with your Left foot just over shoulder width in front and your body turned 45degrees from where your kicking. your right foot facing to the right and your left to the target. lean on your right leg slightly and then launch off it onto the ball of your foot on your left. your body should be travelling foward with your right leg heading towards the target and your foot just off the floor. Bring your knee up to stomach height and snap it out towards there face. pull your toes back so that you hit the target with the ball of your foot not your toes. if you hit the target with your toes you will cause less damage to them and alot more to you. make sure your body is travelling slightly forward to get the weight of your body as well as your foot going into the target. you want more foward motion in the snap than upward. always try to kick though the target like your foot is going to go straight though it. also try springing higher of your left foot just before making contact and while making contact to get 1 inch more height and a lot more force. to get more height do lots of stetching. eg try touch the floor with your hands. or sit on the floor with your legs locked out and toes pointing up and pull your toes towards you pulling your legs off the ground. to do the kick off your left foot do vice versa. hope i havn't missed anything. any problems contact me though msn messenger or email.

Try roundhouse kicks next you should find them a bit harder than front kicks.

HAHAH
by ryu on 2003-09-05
lol, ok, for one.. drunken boxing is definatly not the best... it was used back in the day for shows and like plays, and now it is used in hollywood, sorry guys.. it was never actually taught for serious self defence or actual combat... for fun and sparring probably.. the only good thing about it is that most martial artists can predict what you are going to do, so they can block it. but drunken is so unpredictable even you dont know what your doing, so its hard for them to defend.. also what the hell is this snapping the leg kick.... you'll end up getting laughed at.. the best thing is to lift your knee to your chest then just push it forward hard using the whole bottom of the foot straight into the body of the opponent... also you have so much power int his kick you will move foward a bit when doing it, so if they move back it will chase them a litte.

Ryu, Your idea of the front snap kick is good. Alt hough that would make it a push would it not?
i th ink your idea but on the ball of the foot is the best effective method.

well actually
by bored on 2003-12-25
Drunken kung fu was actually developed by a shao lin monk, when he was in fact very intoxicated, th e other monks rushed to his aid, and found his spar atic movments hard to detect, and avoid. Over the next years he refined his techiniques until it wa s to him a useful fighting system. Practical- no u seless-no it wasnt developed for fun, but I would nt say its THE BEST either. No martial art is above any other, and its my belief its all in the practit ioner. If you LOVE drunken boxing, find a sifu and learn it, dont learn karate just because someone says DB isnt a good style, its your life. Besides a ll martial arts have the goal of self betterment a nyway.
