set up is almost like a side kick except contact is made with the target on the contraction of the leg not extension. point of contact is the heel or bottom of foot.
do a side kick chamber, kick, turn your boyd, and retract your leg into a roundhouse chamber. the strike is done with the heel, or in certain styles the ball of the foot. ( note, heel kicks are barred in most competitions.)
