Around here, we call that a "invert", or "inverted front". You basically do a frontflip, but instead of traveling forward with it, or staying stationary, you travel backwards across the ground while doing a typical frontflip.
As a gymnast for 8 years an martial arts for 2, I can say this is one of the ugliest gym moves there is. Totally blind landing, plus any underottation means you'll fall back, 'cause of your momentum in that direction. I can't see any martial arts use for this move.
Stand in your basic stance, one foot in front of the other. Step forward with your opposite leg, by doing this quickly you will gain momentum.
Then, using the opposite arm to the leg that you stepped forward with, extend your arm fully in a 'traditional' Karate Chop Position. Aim high, just above the temple or in the center of the head.
Do not bend your elbow. If used properly, this move is strong enough to break someones neck or cause severe injury. (Tenchi-nage: Heaven and Earth Throw - I think) Do not ask why its considered a throw, this is only what I was taught by my Aikido Teacher. ^_^;; Happy Chopping.
The first time i tried it was off a diving board...very easy...but then i had to do a punch front after landing a back backflip and when you do that you usually go backwards...i personally think its weird, but its tight as hell if you do it good.
i cant do them off the ground but i can do them off walls, just tuck ur legs in as much as u can and spin up and away from the wall be carefull not to smash ur face on the wall and dont clip ur foot on the wall or you loose your momentum and land on ur back.
