From dictionary.com... pike n 3: a sharp point (as on the end of a spear). And also, pike n. (Chiefly British) A hill with a pointed summit. Makes sense to describe the body position.
in my classes it is usually when your head leans closer to the ground then normal. It is usually good in sparring to keep yourself protected. It doesn't look as good as keeping your head up though.
I used to be a cheerleader but didnt make it last year, I would really like to impress the judges this year with a pike because no one on our squad can do it, i would like to start training now for spring, can someone please give me some tips to do a good pike and some exercises to improve it. thanks.
I have a tip: instead of bringing your body to tou ch your toes, use your stomach muscles to bring yo ur legs up to your chest. I hope you understand wha t I'm trying to say. If you do it right, you won't ne cessarily feel that pull.
