Try and learn a split first then when you master it or your good at it, jump and spread both legs as far as you can and try and grab your toes. If you keep practicing this you can do it.
Tara- I'd been practicing my toe touch for months, and on a good day, i could maybe get it past a ninety-degree angle! Don't worry about it. I'm finally starting to notice an improvement in mine. Try this: lie flat on your back, with your legs together outstretched. Raise your upper body and legs as if you were doing crunches, but when you bring your legs up, spread them as if you were trying to do a toe touch and, well, touch your toes. It's a workout! what exactly is a toe touch? I is it where you swing your leg up while standing on one leg as high as you can go or is it more complicated then that? If that's it then I can use this as an attack, by nailing some poor guy's head who's standing behind me! No one ever suspects this, you just have to bend over a bit to help the kick go a bit higher! Of course, splits would be a must here
That's ridiculous for martial artists. A martial arts split kick is two front kicks with a snap, not swinging your legs up. No power! Jump, tuck both feet in for front kicks, and snap them both out simultaneously as far as part as possible, then bring them back before you land.
My cheerleading coach taught us how to do toe jumps like this
stand next to a counter put ur palms on it and jump when u land bring one leg up to the side as high as u can and then do it agian then do the other leg do it at a rapid pace i got my toe touch at least 2 feet higher in 2 days

Hi I am trying out for the cheerleading squad at my highschool and i was wondering if you can tell me learn how to jump with my legs out and jump with my one leg in front and the other leg bended. ALso is there any stretches I can do to help me improve on those two jumps?
I'm a varsity cheerleader at my school and do competitive cheerleading in Arlington, Tx at All American Cheer United. Try some toe touch crunches! Lie down in a pike position and do a crunch, when you come up act as if your doing a toe touch! Jumps are all abs and leg muscles...try some squats, lunges, and sit ups...also ladies FLEXIBILITY gotta have it! Stretch 2+ times a day!! ok here is how you do it. jump up as high as you can. when you are in the air spread your legs as far apar t as you can. once you've reached that point reach you're arms down and touch your toes. then just br ing your legs together and you'll have done it!
ok. first of all, the whole point is not just to to uch your toes. you need to be able to bring your leg s up to your hands and just reach out (you dont REAL LY need to touch your toes) and to be able to snap yo ur legs up high and fast, you need a high jump and st rong stomach muscles. do ATLEAST 100-150 crunch es a day. oh- and also try this: on a wall in your hou se (even on the back of your bedroom door- thats wh ere i do it) stand on flat feet and reach up as high a s you can. then, place a piece of tape right where y our finger tips are. jump up and touch the area abo ve the tape 50 times on your right leg, 50 times on y our left leg, and then 50 times on both feet. you co uld maybe even run up and down the stairs a few time s to get your legs strong enough. these are a few of the excercises i do because i am a cheerleader. hope this helps you out! good luck!
ok. i just thought of some more tips that i used wh en i was first developing my toe touch: go to your k itchen counter. stand facing it, and place your h ands on the edge of it. next, jump up as high as you c an and split your legs as far as they go. do this rep eatedly. you can also do it with someone behind yo u with their hands on your waist helping to push yo u upwards. remember to keep your back flat. and do nt worry if you cant do one perfectly, because som e people cant, but they look good when theyre doin g one. lastly, if you have access to a trampoline, you can practice on that, or mats do ok too, i guess

somthing you can do to make your toe touches bett er is doing a wall split. What you do is get up again st a wall and spread your legs out untill it hurts r eally bad. Hold it for at least 4 minutes. when you get done try your toe touch and see how much better it is! you should do this every day and your toe tou ches will be very good!
A huge toe touch helper for me is too roll your hip s under. Try having somone spot you in a toe touch ( spotter puts hands on hips and once you jump they l ift up and they need to press there hip inot your lo wer back area..not to hard) and press your hip und er to were you can hyper exstend your toe touch! for splits- sit on the floorin a split position w ith the exception of your front leg BENT facing th e opposite side.(if left foot is bent in front it s hould face the right side) switch legs, do this ev eryday for as long as possible, within a week they should be pretty good. Hope this helps!

First off, my toe touches suck b/c I get absolute ly NO HEIGHT. And for the hurkies (butchered that spelling) I look like one of those people playing the guitar and tucking one leg under while the oth er barely kicks forward! My legs are strong, I'm r eally tall (dunno if that helps) but I cannot get h igh enough? What can I do to improve vertically so I can do the jumps correctly and extend all the way ?
Ok, first of all I have been a cheerleader for 10 y ears and trust me, i have had plenty of experience with toe touches, etc. Just remember, it takes ti me to get toe touches higher, and you don't want to wait until the last minute to start improving the m. If you have a problem jumping high, then you nee d to do "popcorn" jumps. What you do is touch squat on the ground with you legs together and put your h ands on the ground. Then jump in the air as high as y ou can and throw your hands up like you are "pickin g popcorn" and then fall back onto the ground into the squating position again. This will help your jump get its height so you can throw your legs even higher. Also stretching about 20 minutes a day he lps a bunch, but you have to be committed and not st retch when you don't feel like it. Another tip is t o get on the ground into a toe touch position, stre tching you legs as far out as they can go, and then l ifting your right leg up off the ground. Hold it fo r about 20 seconds and then move your leg in a circu lar motion for 20 more seconds. Repeat to the left leg. This helps also!
I sit in the toe touch position on ground and i try to hold my legs out as far as i can go. then I stop w8 1 0 secs and do some more splits do the pike strethce s all the time and work on chinese splits too for mw i an do chinesse but i can not do middle
It takes a lot of work you have to jump high and kee p your arms in a t motion. Splits and stretching do help a lot. I can not stress this enough. Pulling u p through your sholders and rotating your hips he lp too. There are girls who can't get very high but their toe touches still look very good. I have bee n a cheerleader @ my highschool for 3 years and a da ncer the rest. Strech and just keep practicing.
Please help, I need help with my toetouches. All the rest of my jumps are pretty good, all but my toe touchs I can do splits but when I get in the air i c an get them high, I try to be sharp and straight but it still looks terrible!! what can i do?!

I have partially torn one of the legiments in my l eft knee and my cheerleading coach wants me to be f ully recovered by start of the season in like thre e weeks b/c I'm the only one on the squad who can do a back handspring and I get alot of height on my toe t ouches how do I stretch for the season without fur thering my injury??
